USE OF TOOLS ACCORDING TO TASK

1.Metal Nail File

Cut your nails before you begin then

hold the metal nail file parallel to the side
of the nail. File by moving from the side of
the nail to the center. Hold the file flat
against the nail tip. Then finish filing by
holding the file parallel to the other side of
the nail
2.Orangewood Stick

In using an orangewood stick, hold it

gently so that the live tissue of the root of
the nail will not be injured. Hold it as the
same manner in writing with a pencil. The
slanted part of the stick is used to push
back cuticles during a manicure. It may also
be used in removing the excess nail polish
in the nail.

3.Cuticle Nail Pusher

For best result, soften the nails and

cuticles before using the cuticle nail
pusher. Apply cuticle remover, submerge
the fingers in a small bowl of warm water
and soak them for about 3 minutes. Use a
small towel to gently dry your fingernails.
Use the rounded part of the cuticle pusher
to push back the cuticles on the nail
surface then use the pointed part to push
down the cuticles of the nails.
4.Cuticle Nipper

Start with tiny snips, focus on dead skin

on the end of the cuticle. Face the tip of
the blades towards the nails and make tiny
snips across the cuticle. This pulls away
dead skin then gently pull upward after
making your snips. This pull any dead skin
away from the cuticle. Keep pulling away
the dead skin until you’ve trimmed the full
cuticle then apply a moisturizer.

5. Nail Cutter/ Finger nail clippers/

Nail Trimmer

These implements are smaller than

those used for toenails. Their cutting edge
will also be curved slightly inwards to
match the rounded shape of your fingernail
tips. Lift up and rotate the lever of the
clippers, when you’re ready to trim your
nails, hold the clippers in your hand. Place
a fingernail between the two cutting blades
that face each other. Squeeze the upper
lever and the lower parts together to clip
the edge of the nail off. Avoid clipping the
nail all the way to the skin, it can make the
nails too easy to be injured.

6.Nail Brush

Hold the nail brush in your hand and

place the bristles under each fingernail.
Move the brush from side to side, making
sure to cover all of the nail.
7.Nail Buffer

Hold the nail buffer parallel to your nail.

Place the finer grit side on your nail. Similar
to buffing your nails, use strokes to polish
your nail. Polish the nail in X shape stroke
to smooth it. Polishing helps brighten the
nails after buffing.

8. Tweezers

Hold the tweezers in the same way on

how to hold a small tong then use it to
remove hang nails of the fingernails. It is
also used in putting designs in nail art.

9. Emery Board

It is held as the same way on how you

hold a nail file. Using the fine side of the
emery board, file the rough surface of the
nail.

10.Pumice Stone

Never use a pumice stone dry on the

skin. A wet pumice stone will glide across
your skin easily and will reduce your risk of
injury. For the feet, focus on the heels, the
sides of the toes and other dry areas.
