AHMEDABAD UNIVERSITY CUP 2025

7th – 9th February 2025

GENERAL RULES

• All the participants must be full time Bonafide students of their respective institutions.

• Each participant is required to bring their I-card issued by their respective college, a
photocopy of the same I-card as well as the latest paid college fee receipt. In case of
unavailability of any of the above-mentioned documents, they are required to bring a
Bonafide certificate, with their photograph and college’s principal/ dean/ registrar/
director seal (half on photograph and half on certificate).

• In addition to above mentioned documents, each participant must necessarily carry


a valid government photo ID proof (DL/ Voter ID/ Pan Card/ Aadhar Card etc.)

• All participants must be physically fit to participate in their respective sports, and not
be suffering from any underlying medical conditions. By participating in the event, you
agree that the Sports Office is not responsible for any loss, damage, injury or death
during, before or after the event.

• All participants must agree to abide by all rules and regulations of the game, including
sportsmanship and fair play.

Disciplinary Guidelines

• Smoking and consumption of alcohol/tobacco or any other prohibited substance is


strictly prohibited inside the campus premises. In case of any violation of the rule, the
entire team shall be disqualified from taking further part in the tournament.

• Consumption of alcohol and other illegal substances is prohibited in the State of


Gujarat and is thus a punishable offence. We do not take any responsibility for the
same.

• Any player or spectator found to be/have

i) Misbehaved with other players, match officials/referees, spectators, working staff,


organizing committee member, college authority or Member of the community
who may have gathered to watch the event, and/ or

ii) Damaging the host Institute’s infrastructure will be severely dealt with which may
amount to, but not limited to, disqualifying the player/players from the event. The
expenses shall be borne by the player/players. Also, a complaint will be lodged by
the host team Institute’s authorities against said student/group of students with
their home Institution. In addition, misbehavior of any sort with female
players/spectators will be dealt with most severity.

• It is mandatory for all the participants to strictly adhere to the rules and regulations of
Ahmedabad University.

Badminton

For Men

• The Tournament will be played on a league system.


• Each team should have a minimum of 4 players in the team and a maximum of 7
players in the team.
• Each team game will be best of five.
• Each match will be the best of three games, 21 points each.
• Against a team, a player cannot play more than 2 matches.
• Against a team, a single player cannot play both singles and doubles.
• All matches will be played as per the rules of the Badminton Association of India (BAI).
• The referee’s decision regarding anything during the match is final and bound.

For Women

• The Tournament will be played on a league system.


• Each team should have a minimum of 2 players in the team and a maximum of 5
players in the team.
• Each team game will be best of three.
• Each match will be the best of three games, 21 points each.
• Against a team, only two players from the team can play (at max) two matches (not
both singles) and no player can play more than 2 matches.
• All matches will be played as per the rules of the Badminton Association of India (BAI).
• The referee’s decision regarding anything during the match is final and bound.

Basketball

• The Tournament will be played on a league system.


• A maximum of 12 players are allowed in a team.
• 10 minutes each quarter with 2 minutes break between the quarters and 5 minutes at
half time (unless otherwise stated).
• All the players on the team should have the same color of jersey with printed
numbers.
• Using abusive or foul language during the play can lead to technical fouls or expulsion
depending on the referee and the organizing committee.
• FIBA rules applicable.
• The referee’s decision regarding anything during the match is final and bound.

Chess

1. Team size for the tournament is a minimum of 4 and a maximum of 6.


2. All the team members must belong to the same institute. 4 players play against the 4
players of their opponent team simultaneously.
3. The Board Order must be decided by the respective team captain before
commencement of each round.
4. Chess clock will be used with a time duration of 20 minutes + 5 seconds increment
will be given to each player.
5. If a player from Team A wins against a player from Team B, then the player gets 1
point for Team A and if they end in a draw, both the players get 0.5 points for their
team, to be added into the round points of the team.
6. After each round, the maximum score a team could score is 4. And to win a particular
round, Team must score more than 2 points. If they score exactly 2 points, it would
be a draw.
7. All the FIDE rules are to be applied.
8. In case of a tie. A 3 mins blitz game will be played between 1 player of both the
teams.
9. In all cases, the decision taken by the organizers shall be deemed final and the
organizing committee has the right to disqualify a team.

Football

For Men

• The Tournament will be played on a league system.


• A maximum of 18 players are allowed in a team. A minimum of 11 should
register to participate.
• If a team gets a walkover, it wins the match by a default 3-0 score line.
• A player who receives a red card or two yellow cards in a match will be suspended for
the ongoing match as well as the next match.
• A player who picks up yellow cards in two different matches will be automatically
suspended for the next match.
• No yellow cards will be carried into the semi-final and (or) final.
• Each team will be allowed to make a maximum of 3 substitutions per match.
• All standard FIFA rules apply.
• The referee’s decision regarding anything during the match is final and bound.

For Women

• The Tournament will be 6 aside.


• The Tournament will be played on a league system.
• A maximum of 10 players are allowed in a team. A minimum of 5 should
register to participate.
• If a team gets a walkover, it wins the match by a default 3-0 score line.
• A player who receives a red card or two yellow cards in a match will be suspended for
the ongoing match as well as the next match.
• A player who picks up yellow cards in two different matches will be automatically
suspended for the next match.
• No yellow cards will be carried into the semi-final and (or) final.
• Each team will be allowed to make a maximum of 3 substitutions per match.
• All standard FIFA rules apply.

Tennis

• The Tournament will be played on a league system.


• All other standard Tennis rules apply.
• The Tennis fixture will comprise of 3 matches in the following order:
I. Singles
II. Doubles
III. Singles
• Each Singles and Doubles match will consist of one set. A 7-point tie break will
be played at 6-6.
• Normal 2-point deuce and advantage point scoring system will be followed in the
singles match.
• A decided point will be played at 40-40 in a double match.
• Each player in a team can play a maximum of one single and one doubles.
• Therefore, a minimum of 2 Player will have to participate in a match, and a maximum
of 5.
• The team winning a greater number of matches will be declared as the winner of
the fixture.
• In case of injury during a match, no replacement will be allowed, and if the player
refuses to play (retires hurt), the match will be deemed won by the opponent. Also,
the player will be counted as having played that game.
• The break between points can maximum be of 20 seconds and the break between
games can maximum be of 90 seconds.
• A maximum of 20 minutes will be allowed between matches in a tie.
• The order of players proposed to play games will have to be pre-decided
and submitted to the Organizing Committee before the beginning of the fixture and
cannot be changed thereafter.
• Breaks / Time-outs will not be allowed during the game. Only drinks can be taken
while the game is on.
• Teams are expected to bring their own racquets.
• The referee’s decisions will be final and binding.

Table Tennis

• The Tournament will be played on a league system.


• All other standard Table Tennis rules apply.
• Each Table-Tennis match will comprise of 5 games:

i. Singles
ii. Singles
iii. Doubles
iv. Singles
v. Doubles

• Each game will consist of 3 sets of 11 points each with service changing sides every 2
points in a game. Semi-finals and finals to be a best of 5 sets in each match.
• Each player can play max 1 single and 1 doubles match.
• A maximum of 6 men from each team will be allowed to participate in a match.
• The team winning a greater number of games will be declared as the winner of the
match.
• NOTE: In case of tie between 2 teams, the no. of matches won (net of losses) would
be considered. If it's still the same, then head-to-head result would be considered.
• 'Dead rubbers' will not be played in the interests of paucity of time to organize
remaining events in the meet.
• The order of players proposed to play games will have to be pre-decided and
submitted to the Organizing Committee before the beginning of the match and
cannot be changed thereafter.
• Nobody would be allowed to play with a dead rubber racket.
• In case of injury or incapacity to play occurs during a game, no replacement will be
allowed, and if the player refuses to play (retires hurt), the game will be deemed won
by the opponent. Also, the player will be counted as having played that game.
• Each team can take a maximum of 1 time out during a game.
• Teams are expected to bring their own Table-Tennis bats.
• The referee's decisions will be final and abiding.
• If the referee feels the player's service is not meeting the requirements of the game,
a warning will be given first. If the referee calls foul for subsequent services, the point
u given to the opposite team.

Volleyball

• The Tournament will be played on a league system.


• The team size for the tournament is 12, including the Libero.
• All matches will be of 3 sets. All the sets would be of 25 points each. In case of a 1-1
tie, the deciding 3rd set is played to 15 points, except Semi-finals and Finals.
• The Semi-finals and Final will be in 5 sets. All the sets would be of 25 points each. In
the case of a 2-2 tie, the deciding 5th set is played to 15 points.
• Before the start of each set the coach or the captain would present the starting line-
up of his/her team on a line-up sheet.
• Once the line-up sheet has been submitted no changes can be made without a regular
substitution.
• If faults are committed by both the teams simultaneously then the point becomes void
i.e., it is a common point.
• Each team can request a maximum of 2 time-outs and 6 substitutions per set.
• Rotation is compulsory.
• There must be a complete rally between two separate substitution requests by the
same team.
• Time-out requests must be made by showing the corresponding hand signal when the
ball is out of play and before the whistle for service.
• Other international laws would be followed according to FIVB rules.
• The referee’s decision regarding anything during the match is final and bound.

Check List of the Event

• All entries must be sent in a team entry form attached in the mail.
• All teams must follow the rules for each sport to enter their teams for competition.
• All competing teams must report at the match venue not later than 30 minutes in
advance.
• Last day of Registration is 4th February 2024.
