Read the following instructions very carefully and strictly follow them:
i. This Question paper contains 38 questions. All questions are compulsory.
ii. This Question paper is divided into five sections – A, B, C, D and E.
iii. In Section A, Questions 1 to 18 are multiple choice questions(MCQs)
and Questions 19 and 20 are Assertion – Reason based Questions of
1 mark each.
iv. In Section B, Questions 21 to 25 are very short answer (VSA) type
questions, carrying 2 marks each.
v. In Section C, Questions 26 to 31 are short answer (SA) type questions, carrying 3
marks each.
vi. In Section D, Questions 32 to 35 are long answer (LA) type questions, carrying 5 marks
each.
vii. In Section E, Questions 36 to 38 are Case study-based questions,
carrying 4 marks each. (For Questions 36 and 37 marks are given by 1,1,2 and for
Question No. 38 , marks are given as 2 , 2)
viii. There is no overall choice. However an internal choice has been provided in
2 questions in section B, 3 questions in section C, 2 questions in section D
and one subpart each in 2 questions of section E.

breadth is decreased by 20 m, then its area will decrease by 5300 𝑚2 .
Using the matrix method find the length and breadth of the rectangle.

36. Students of grade 12 planned to plant saplings along straight lines,


parallel to each other to one side of the playground ensuring that they
had enough play area. Let’s assume that they planted one of the rows of
the saplings along the line 𝑦 = 𝑥 − 4. Let L be the set of all lines which are
parallel on the ground and R be the relation on L.

Based on the information, answer the following questions.


(i) Let the relation R be defined by 𝑅 = {(𝐿1 , 𝐿2 ): 𝐿1 ∥ 𝐿2 𝑤ℎ𝑒𝑟𝑒 𝐿1 , 𝐿2 𝜖𝐿}. Check
whether the relation is reflexive, symmetric &transitive.
(ii) Check whether R is an equivalent relation.
(iii) Prove that the function 𝑓: 𝑅 → 𝑅 defined by 𝑓(𝑥 ) = 𝑥 − 4 is bijective.

37. In a residential society comprising of 100 houses, there were 60


children between the ages of 10 – 15 years. They were inspired by their
teachers to start composting to ensure that biodegradable waste is
recycled. For this purpose, instead of each child doing it for only his/her
house, children convinced the Residents Welfare Association to do it as a
society initiative. For this they identified a square area in the local park.
Local authorities charged an amount of Rs. 50/- per square metre for
Space so that there is no misuse of the space and Resident Welfare
Association takes it seriously. Association hired a labourer for digging out 250 𝑚3 and
he charged Rs. 400 × (𝑑𝑒𝑝𝑡ℎ)2. Association will like to have minimum cost.
Based on the information, answer the following questions.
(i) Let side of the square plot is 𝑥 𝑚 and its depth is ℎ 𝑚, then write the cost
function 𝐶 for the pit in terms of depth ℎ.
(ii) Find the values of ℎ at the critical point

38. The reality of Dengue fever test is specified as follows:


Of the people having Dengue, 90% of the test detects the disease but
10% goes undetected. Of the people free of Dengue, 99% of the test is
judged Dengue negative but 1% are diagnosed as showing Dengue
positive. From a large population of which only 0.1% have Dengue
fever. one person is selected at random, given Dengue fever test, and
pathologist reports him/her as Dengue positive .
Based on the information, answer the following questions.
(i) What is the probability that the test result is positive ?
(ii) What is the probability that the person is actually having Dengue
given that the test result is positive.
