Leaflet SWISS SCHENGEN VISA


VISITING FAMILY / FRIENDS (Schengen Privilege)

Applicants who are married to a Swiss, EU or EFTA national, as well as children (below 21 years old) of
Swiss, EU or EFTA nationals benefit from a privileged visa procedure.

How to apply:
 The visa section is open by appointments for applications of Schengen visa (type C). Inquiries
and appointment requests are to be submitted via e-mail to: cairo.visa@eda.admin.ch

 or through our external service provider VFS Global Centre:


 Prior to the submission of a visa request, an appointment has to be fixed with VFS Centre online on
the VFS website: https://visa.vfsglobal.com/egy/en/che/

General application rules:


 If a requested document cannot be provided, there must be a written explanation instead,
clarifying why the document is not available.

 The mandatory “Schengen Consultation”, which takes a processing time period at least 10
working days, can only be started upon receiving a complete application file meeting the
requirements.

 Communication regarding visa matters are only accepted in written form to

 The Embassy reserves the right to ask for additional documents or a personal interview with the
applicant.

Requirements from “Schengen Privilege” applicants

Must be duly filled-in and signed by the applicant!

Passport  original and copies of biometric data page plus all non-empty pages
 issued within the last 10 years
 contains at least 2 blanc pages
 must be valid for at least 3 months beyond the return from the planned trip

1 passport-size personal  with white background


photo  not older than 6 months

Marriage contract or  only copy required


Family certificate  must be issued by a Schengen / EU / EFTA member country

Family member’s Swiss,  copy of biometric data page only


EU or EFTA passport

for children  birth certificate

Additional special requirements

If the Swiss spouse is not living in Egypt and is not registered at our Embassy, the following additional
requirements have to be submitted:
• invitation letter from the Swiss partner, declaring that she/he is expecting her/his spouse for a visiting period
not exceeding 3 months
• copy of the Swiss passport (only data page)
