Activity 1 “PictoWord.
The teacher will share different images and ask
students the following questions:
Mechanics: Think of a word/concept/idea that is represented in each of the
photos.
1, What can you say about the picture?
2. What is the use of following devices, appliances and
machines?
3. What do these devices, appl need for them to
function/work?
Electricity
Electricity is a form of energy that results from the flow of charged
particles which you encounter in everyday life. It is also the energy
required to operate appliances, gadgets and machines.
Electric Charges
Electric charge is a physical property of matter that causes it to experience a
force when placed in an electromagnetic field. Electric charge can be positive or
negative. Like charges repel each other and unlike charges attract each other.
An object with no net charge is referred to as electrically neutral.
Electrostatic Law
Opposite charges attract and negative charges repel.
D. Generalization
The teacher will ask the following questions:
1. What is electricity?
2. Differentiate the two major groups of electricity.
3. Give the two types of electricity.
4. What are the subatomic particles of an atom?
5. What is the basic law of electrostatics?
6. Explain the 3 different charging processes?
ANDRES
ACCIDENTALLY
PLACED THE
PLASTIC COMB
NEAR THE Brother, look! My
PAPER DOLLS paper dolls!
THAT WERE AND BOTH WERE SURPRISED ON
CUT BY HER WHAT HAD HAPPENED NEXT…
SISTER MELA.
Q1. How did the plastic comb attract the paper doll?
The Plastic comb attract the paper doll because it became electrically charged.
Q2. What happened to plastic comb? Paper doll?
The plastic comb gained charged and the paper doll gained charged.
Q3. Do you think a metallic comb will attract paper dolls?
A metallic comb will not attract the paper doll.
2.Which of the following describe the usual way by which a material can gain a
positive charge?
a. By gaining protons
b. By gaining electrons
c. By losing protons
d. By losing electrons
3. If you comb your hair and the comb becomes positively charged, what will
happened to your hair?
a.it will remain uncharged
b. it will be repelled by the comb
c. it will become positively charged
d. it will become negatively charged
Test II. Completion Type: Direction: Complete the statement by writing the
correct word/s on the blank.
6-7. Electrostatic law states that like charges Repel and _opposite charges
attract.
8-10. The law of conservation of energy states that charges cannot be created
nor destroyed but can be transfer from one material to another.
V. Assignment
Cite other situations where charging by friction is present? Write your answer in
a 1 whole sheet of paper. (10 points)
