#9: Read about the multilingual family and circle the correct answers. (3 M)
A multilingual family
My friend Justin is learning French. He talks about how difficult it is to learn French all the time. In the
afternoon after school, he plays games on his laptop to learn new words in French. Last week, I wanted to watch
an American movie, but Justin didn't want to watch the movie because he wanted to watch a French movie!
Sometimes in class he uses his earphones and I think he is listening to French. He says that he wants to go and
live in France one day.
I don't understand Justin because I speak three languages, so I don't need to learn French. My father is Brazilian
and he speaks Portuguese, and my mother is Honduran and she speaks Spanish. We live in North Carolina, so I
speak English, Spanish and Portuguese.
Sometimes I think that I'm very lucky to speak three languages, but most of the time I don't think about it. Next
year we are going on vacation to Rio de Janeiro to visit my cousins. We chat on Instagram but it's going to be so
cool to meet them and to talk to them.
