1) Sweep with a soft brush broom collect the dust with a dust pan in conjunction with a
dust pan
2) With warm detergent water and deck brush and floor cloth /wet mop, mop the floor to
remove the dirt.
3) Remove stubborn stains with scouring pad a solution of water detergent.
4) Collect the sop with a floor cloth and squeeze out into a sop bucket.
5) Rinse with deck brush in conjunction with a floor cloth /wet mop and warm plain water
to remove traces of detergent solution.
6) Dry with a dry mop/floor cloth.
7) Allow to air and dry completely
8) Buff with a dry mop /buffing pad to remove any fluffs.

Procedure

Daily

1. Sweep the floor using a soft brush broom.


2. Collect dust at intervals using a dust pan and dust pan brush.
3. Wrap dust in a newspaper leaf and dispose in a waste bin.
4. Mop the floor with warm detergent water and deck brush and floor cloth with warm detergent
water to remove dirt.
5. Remove stubborn stains with scoring pad
6. Mop the floor using a wet mop.
7. Rinse using a wet mop and warm plain water.
8. Dry using a dry mop to facilitate the floors
9. Clean small areas at a time, to avoid stepping into already cleaned area.
10. Allow the floor to dry completely
11. Buff with a buffing pad in conjunction with a deck brush ,to remove any traces of fluffs and

5. Dry the floor using a dry mob /dry floor cloth and deck brush.
6. Allow the floor to dry completely.

(Apply evenly).
8. Repeat the process twice (allow the polish to dry completely before the next application)
9. Buff using a polishing machine to obtain a good sheen.

conjunction with a dust pan brush

Method

1. Place the carpet if possible on a liner.


2. Sweep.
3. Prepare the cleaning solution according manufacturer’s instructions
4. Clean the back side first.
5. Clean with warm shampoo solution using a cleaning cloth.
6. Rinse with warm water plain water and cleaning cloth.
7. Dry with a dry cleaning cloth
8. (Clean small areas at a time).
9. Clean the top side when the underside is finished.
10. When complete place carpet in an airy place to finish of drying –if possible.

STAIN REMOVAL FROM CARPET

 Wax
1. Scrape of the excessive wax.
2. Place the grease proof paper /brown paper on top of the stain
3. With a hot iron ,iron the paper on the stain to enable it to melt into the paper
4. Move the paper severally and repeat the process until most of the stain is removed.
5. Remove the remaining stain with a grease solvent e.g. home dry cleaner.

 Biro Ink Satin


1. With a cleaning cloth and methylated spirit rub the stain from the outside to the inside to avoid
transferring it to other areas.
2. Change the stained part of the cleaning cloth for a cleaner part and repeat the process until the
stain is removed.
3. Clean out the methylated spirit with shampoo solution and cleaning cloth.
4. Rinse it out with warm plain water and cleaning cloth
5. Dry with a dry cleaning cloth.
6. Work in a well-ventilated area.

 Ink stain – fountain pen –dub with a pad soaked in cold water then clean remaining stain with
cold water and detergent solutions .Rinse and dry
 Food stain
1. Scrape off the food particles.
2. Dab the stain severally with Ecolab stain remover.
3. Wash out traces of the stain remover.
4. Rinse and dry the surface
 Shoe polish stain
1. Using a cleaning cloth and turpentine rub the stain from outside to the inside to
avoid transfer of stain.
2. Repeat the process always changing stained are of the cleaning cloth for the
cleaner part.
3. Clean out the turpentine with warm shampoo solution.
4. Rinse out the shampoo and dry it.

METHOD

1. Remove light soil using a wall broom/vacuum cleaner.


2. Clean with warm detergent water using a sponge / cleaning cloth from bottom to top, to avoid
formation of tear marks when water drips on to dry paint.
3. Use fine Ecolab scouring agents-indirectly for stain removal (i.e. scouring paste in conjunction
with cleaning cloth –wrap the scouring paste in a cleaning cloth) Do not use strong abrasives.
4. Rinse with warm clean water using a cleaning cloth / sponge from top to bottom (as the wall is
already wet and there is no danger of forming tear marks.)
5. Dry using a dry clean cloth to fasten the drying process.
6. Emulsion paints tend to polish /shine easily. To avoid this do not rub the wall hard when
cleaning or removing stains.
7. Do not apply polish to restore gloss or silky appearance, as it damages the finish.

WALLPAPER

METHOD

1. Remove the dust using a wall broom.


2. (remove marks with soft bread –if not washable)
3. For the sponge able –Damp clean using a cleaning cloth or sponge , and warm detergent
water
4. Rinse with a damp cleaning cloth and dry immediately with a dry cleaning cloth.

10. Buff with a fluffy duster to obtain a sheen.

2. If there are watermarks apply vinegar and rub hard with cleaning cloth ( allow contact time)

Method

1. Dust the frame work if made of different material.


2. Remove the surface dust by brushing thoroughly or by vacuum cleaning
3. Prepare the shampoo solution according the manufacturer’s instructions
4. Agitate to obtain a lot of form
5. Dip brush into foam and apply foam to the upholstery
6. Brush the upholstery gently to remove the dirt.
7. Rinse out the shampoo with a cleaning cloth and warm plain water. (The cloth must be well
squeezed to avoid wetting the upholstery excessively.)
8. Give a final rinse with cold water and a bit of vinegar to brighten the colour of the upholstery
9. Leave the furniture in open air to dry faster, where possible.
10. Polish frame if made of polished / vanished wood, buff to shine.

6. Apply brasso to the metal catch and latch with a rag.
7. Rub hard to clean the tarnish off.

the metal polish; Rinse and dry
9. Buff to shine
10. Clean the window pane with a window cleaner and a rag.
(Pay attention to the corner)

12. Clean the window still with a damp cleaning cloth and warm detergent water (if the still is

Method

1. Ventilate the closet


2. Pick any fluff from the drainage hole.
3. Spray walls with detergent disinfectant (cleaning solution) and allow it time contact
4. Scrub the walls and soap dent using a scrubbing brush(daily – clean with cleaning clothes)
5. Rinse the wall with warm water and detergent and cleaning cloth
6. Dry the wall with a dry cleaning cloth

1. Skim the water of the pool to remove surface scum and any litter that may fall on the water.
2. Remove sediments at the bottom of the pool.
3. Scrub the sides of the pool with sodium hypochlorite
4. Switch on water pump which helps filter the pool water
5. Add chlorine to water to keep the level of germs low
6. The PH is checked during the day at intervals and it must be maintained at 7.8
7. The PH is adjusted by the addition of sodium carbonate or sodium bisulphate to water.
