Achieving SDG 10”

POSITION PAPER

Long-term social and economic progress is threatened by inequality, which also

undermines people's sense of fulfillment and self-worth and impedes efforts to fight poverty.

Inequalities in sexual orientation, color, class, income, gender, age, disability, ethnicity, religion,

and opportunity persist on a global scale. (Martin, 2023) As a result, there may be a rise in crime,

disease, and environmental harm. We cannot achieve sustainable development and better the

planet for all if people are not given the chance to live better lives. (Kuhn, 2019) All facets of

society must undergo a radical transformation to reduce inequality. Extreme poverty and hunger

must be eradicated, and more funds must be spent on social security, health, education, and

decent employment for all, with a focus on youth, immigrants, refugees, and other marginalized

and vulnerable groups. (Saboe & Torpey, 2018) It is imperative that inclusive policies that

secure equal access to education be implemented in order to address the growing global

inequalities and ensure equitable distribution of resources.

Education is a powerful force to break the cycle of poverty. It is a comprehensive

approach to empowerment by fostering personal growth and critical thinking. Education provides

the people with knowledge, skills, and abilities for career opportunities and personal

advancement. This all-encompassing educational foundation promotes social mobility by helping

people solve financial issues and pursue better living standards. By encouraging women to enter

the workforce, education also improves health outcomes and cultivates a feeling of community

involvement. (Author, 2022)

Generational cycles of poverty are broken by educational empowerment. People with

higher education levels are better able to provide for their own families and may foster an

atmosphere that supports their kids' education. Because each generation builds on the educational
and economic achievements of the one before it, the intergenerational impact increases the

possibility of continued success. Essentially, empowerment via education becomes a pillar of

good change, providing a means of escaping poverty and moving toward a wealthier, more

knowledgeable, and more robust society. (jeff, 2022)

By reducing gaps between men and women, access to high-quality education is essential

to advancing gender equality and building a more inclusive society. When equal access to

education is provided to all genders, it equips women with the knowledge and abilities to engage

in various life activities fully. Good education is a powerful tool for breaking down gender

stereotypes and conventional norms, empowering women to pursue careers, participate in

decision-making, and contribute significantly to their communities. (GGI Insights, 2023)

Global disparities, in their many manifestations, are a serious issue characterized by

unequal access to essential resources and economic imbalances. The primary component of this

worldwide problem, economic inequality, has many repercussions, including social unrest and

impeding the attainment of sustainable development objectives. Not only does the concentration

of wealth in some areas encourage inequality, but it also impedes national development.

(Niekerk, 2020) This disparity in wealth exacerbates social tensions and undermines cooperative

attempts to tackle pressing worldwide concerns such as poverty, climate change, and healthcare.

For this reason, reducing economic inequality is essential to promoting world peace and a higher

standard of living.

Underprivileged populations are caught in a cycle of limited opportunities due to the

unequal distribution of resources, which is frequently made worse by educational disparities.

Even though receiving a good education is crucial to ending the cycle of poverty, educational
inequalities further marginalize vulnerable populations. People cannot realize their full potential

due to a lack of educational opportunities, which widens existing gaps and impedes social

mobility. Economic changes and a concerted effort to guarantee equitable access to education are

necessary to address global inequality. (Sharvanth S, 2023) By allowing marginalized

communities to actively engage in and contribute to global advancement, this strategy promotes

the eradication of structural injustices and creates a more inclusive and sustainable future.

Inclusive policies are essential in the fight for educational equity because they help close

the achievement gap and foster a more fair learning environment. Governmental efforts, such as

targeted educational outreach and scholarship programs, are essential in removing financial

barriers frequently preventing people from accessing higher education. (Inclusive Education and

Its Benefits - Inclusion NB, 2018) These policies ensure that economic disparities do not prevent

people from pursuing their academic aspirations by making education more accessible by

providing financial support to marginalized communities. Furthermore, by recognizing and

addressing the particular difficulties disadvantaged groups face, these initiatives help create an

inclusive educational environment and promote a diversity-aware system.

Moreover, the significance of inclusive policies transcends national boundaries,

underscoring the necessity of international cooperation to tackle educational inequalities

worldwide. Promoting a global initiative to lessen educational disparities requires implementing

policies that cross geopolitical boundaries. A more robust and long-lasting approach to

educational equality is made possible by international cooperation, which makes it possible to

share best practices, resources, and expertise. (Nada Karaman Aksentijević et al., 2014)
Together, nations can pool resources, share lessons from past achievements and difficulties, and

jointly create policies that support inclusive and equitable education for all, regardless of

socioeconomic background or location. Inclusive policies are a foundation for constructing a

more equitable and integrated international education system. (New, 2018)

Even though some people argue that inclusive policies are not beneficial because they are

expensive, a more thorough analysis shows that the long-term societal and economic benefits

greatly exceed the initial investment challenges. Opponents frequently claim that significant

financial resources are needed to implement inclusive policies, highlighting the necessity of

realizing that the long-term advantages of having an informed and empowered public outweigh

the initial expenses. (Mezzanotte, 2022) In the end, inclusive policies promote innovation, civic

engagement, economic growth, and societal advancement by tearing down obstacles to education

and enabling meaningful contributions from workers. Opponents may argue that overcoming

systemic and cultural barriers is impossible, but realizing and tackling these issues head-on is

crucial to long-term global advancement. The key to inclusivity is to develop an awareness of

various cultural contexts and modify policies accordingly. It will promote social cohesion,

celebrate diversity, and advance educational equality. Despite resistance and obstacles, pursuing

inclusive policies is still essential for forming a fair and sustainable future.

It is imperative that inclusive policies that secure equal access to education be

implemented in order to address the growing global inequalities and ensure equitable distribution

of resources. The advantages of such policies over time outweigh the drawbacks,

notwithstanding criticisms about their structural and financial difficulties. Because of this
interdependence, inclusive education policies are morally required and a wise strategic

investment in creating a safe and prosperous global society. In conclusion, there is no question

about the superiority of promoting inclusive education policies, as they address economic

disparities, foster social cohesion, and advance sustainable development. This thoughtful strategy

is essential when opportunities will not be limited by socioeconomic status, enabling people to

make significant contributions to their local communities and the larger world. It is crucial to

keep pushing for inclusive education policies locally and internationally, supporting campaigns

that promote equality worldwide, and minimizing educational gaps to create a more just and

enlightened society.
