Major Problem: This study aims to provide insights into the most effective teaching
strategies for programming education, ensuring ICT students develop strong
programing skills and explore how does the integration of advance and traditional
method enhance the skills of the ICT students.
This paper reports on the blending of advanced and traditional methods toward the
improvement of programming skills for ICT students, with a particular focus on
conventional teaching strategies through lectures and hands-on coding practices and
modern approaches using interactive platforms for coding, AI-assisted programming,
and cloud-based environments for development. This research involves ICT students
from Santo Domingo Integrated High School (SDIHS). It measures how proficient they
are in coding, problem-solving skills, and adopting industry-standard tools. Data was
gathered through interview distribution to Grade 11 & Grade 12 ICT students.
This study focuses on ICT students from a specific grade level. It covers
popular programming languages like Python, Java, and C++ but excludes
specialized ones. It also assumes students have access to all necessary ICT
tools, which may not always be true. The study aims to explore the pros and
cons of combining traditional and modern teaching methods to enhance ICT
students' learning experience.
