Sheet No. 1::Lines, Lettering & Scale


Problem 1: Draw the following diagram using different types of lines.
Problem 2: Write A-Z and 0-9 using single-stroke Gothic font.
Problem 3: Construct a plain scale where 1 cm represents 4 meters. The scale is long
enough to measure a distance of 50 m. Find its R.F. Show the distance of 37 meters on the
scale.
Problem 4: The distance between Delhi and Agra is 200 km on a railway map. It is
represented by a line 5 cm long. Find its R.F. Draw a diagonal scale to show 1 km and a
maximum of 600 km. Indicate 456 km on the scale.
Sheet No. 2::Engineering Curves
Problem 1: Inscribe a pentagon in a circle of diameter 60 mm.
Problem 2:Draw a regular hexagon of side 45 mm.
Problem 3: Construct an ellipse whose major and minor axes are 80 cm and 60 cm
respectively (by concentric circle method).
Problem 4: Draw a parabola when the axis is given as 60mm and the ordinate is given as
50mm.
Problem 5: Draw a rectangular hyperbola if a point on it is at a distance of 20 mm and 25
mm, respectively, from two asymptotes.
Problem 6: Construct a cycloid of a 42 mm diameter circle for one revolution.
Problem 7: Construct an epicycloid where the rolling circle diameter is 50mm and the
directing circle diameter is 150 mm.
Problem 8: Construct a hypocycloid where the rolling circle diameter is 50 mm and the
directing circle diameter is 150 mm.
Problem 9: Construct an involute of a 42 mm diameter circle for one complete rotation.
Sheet No. 3:: Orthographic Projections of Points and Lines
Problem 1: Draw the projections of the following points on the same ground line, keeping the
projections 25 mm apart.
A) in the H.P and 25 mm behind the V.P
B) 50 mm above the H.P and 30 mm in front of the V.P
C) In the V.P and 50 mm above the H.P
D) 30 mm below the H.P and 15 mm behind the V.P
E) 25 mm above the H.P and 60 mm behind the V.P
F) 45 mm below the H.P and 35 mm in front of the V.P
G) In both the H.P and the V.P
Problem 2: The pictorial views of four solids are shown below. Sketch looking from the arrow,
front view and top view using the first angle projection method.

Problem 3: A 50 mm long line AB is parallel to both H.P and V.P. The line is 25 mm in front of
V.P and 60 mm above H.P, draw the projections of the line.
Problem 4: A 60 mm long line AB has its end A at a distance of 20 mm above the H.P. The
line is perpendicular to the H.P and 40 mm in front of V.P, draw the projections of the line.
Problem 5: A line AB 60 mm long is situated in H.P and inclined to V.P at 30 deg. The end A
is 20 mm in front of V.P, draw the projection of line.
Problem 6: A 70 mm long line AB has an end A at 20 mm above H.P and 30 mm in front of
V.P. The line is inclined at 45 deg to the H.P and 30 deg to V.P, Draw the projections.
Sheet No. 4:: Projection of Planes and Solids
Problem 1: An equilateral triangle of 50 mm side has one of its sides inclined at 45° to the
V.P. and the plane is parallel to the H.P. The plane is 25 mm above HP. Draw its projections.
Solution:

Problem 2: A square ABCD of 40 mm side has a corner on the H.P. and 20 mm in front of
the V.P. All the sides of the square are equally inclined to the H.P. and parallel to the V.P.

Problem 3: Draw the projections of a circle of 50 mm diameter having its plane vertical and
inclined at 30° to the V.P. Its centre is 30 mm above the H.P. and 20 mm in front of the V.P.
Draw its projections.

Problem 6: A hexagonal prism has one of its rectangular faces parallel to the H.P. Its axis is
perpendicular to the V.P. and 3.5 cm above the ground. Draw its projections when the nearer
