CHEMISTRY
OBJECTIVE QUESTIONS
1. When CO2 is passed through lime water, it turns milky. the milkiness in due to
formation of
(a) CaCO3
(b) Ca(OH)2
(c) H2 O
(d) CO2
2. Acetic acid was added to a solid X kept in a test tube. A colourless and odourless gas
was evolved. The gas was passed through lime water which turned milky. It was
concluded that.
(a) Solid X is sodium hydroxide and the gas evolved is CO2
(b) Solid X is sodium bicarbonate and the gas evolved is CO2
(c) Solid X is sodium acetate and the gas evolved is CO2
(d) Solid X is sodium chloride and the gas evolved is CO
3. The organic acid present in tomato is
(a) oxalic acid
(b) lactic acid
(c) malic acid
(d) tartaric acid

ASSERTION AND REASON DIRECTION :

In the following questions, a statement of assertion (A) is followed by a statement of reason
(R). Mark the correct choice as:
(a) Both assertion (A) and reason (R) are true and reason (R) is the correct explanation of
assertion (A).
(b) Both assertion (A) and reason (R) are true but reason (R) is not the correct explanation of
assertion (A).
(c) Assertion (A) is true but reason (R) is false.
(d) Assertion (A) is false but reason (R) is true. (e) Both Assertion and Reason are false.

4. Assertion : Phenolphthalein gives pink colour in basic solution.

Reason : Phenolphthalein is a natural indicator.
5. Assertion : HCl produces hydronium ions H3O+ and chloride ions Cl- in aqueous
solution.
Reason : In presence of water, basic give H+ ions.

6. Sodium hydroxide reacts with zinc to produce hydrogen gas.

Reason : Acids reacts with active metals to produce hydrogen gas.

SUBJECTIVE QUESTIONS
7. The following diagram displays a chemical reaction. Observe it and answer the following
questions:

(i) Identify the type of chemical reaction that will take place and define it.
(ii) How will the colour of salt change?
(iii) Mention one commercial use of this salt.

8. Barium chloride reacts with aluminium sulphate to give aluminium chloride and barium
sulphate.
(i) State the type of reaction.
(ii) Translate the above statement into a balanced chemical equation.

BIOLOGY

1.What is parasitic nutrition? Give two examples of parasites one from animals and one from
plants.

2. Respiratory structures of two different animals a fish and a human being are as shown.

Observe (a) and (b) and select one characteristic that holds true for both of them.
(a) Both have thin and moist surface for gaseous exchange.

(b) Both are placed internally in the body of animal.

(c) In both the blood returns to the heart after being oxygenated.

(d) Both are poorly supplied with blood vessels to conserve energy.

3. An organism A which cannot move from one place to another, makes a simple food B from
the substances C and D available in the environment. This food is made in the presence of a
green colored substance E present in organs F in the presence of light energy in a process called
G. Some of the simple food B also gets converted into a complex food H for storage purposes.
The food H gives a blue-black color with dilute iodine solution.

(i) What is

(a) organism A

(b) food B, and (c) food H?

(ii) What are C and D? Name process G. Write an equation to describe this process. Explain the
mechanism of process G

4. Identify the parts from the given diagram which carry oxygenated and deoxygenated blood.

Physics
1 .A 5 cm tall object is placed perpendicular to the principal axis of a convex mirror of
focal-length 20 cm. The distance of the object from the mirror is 30 cm. Find the:(i) position(ii)
nature(iii) size of the image formed.

2. A 4.5 cm needle is placed 12 cm away from a convex mirror of focal length 15 cm. Give the
location of image and magnification. Describe what happens to the image as the needle is moved
farther from the mirror.

3.Rohit placed a pencil perpendicular to principal axis in front of a converging mirror of focal
length 30 cm. The image formed is twice the size of the pencil. Calculate the distance of the
object from the mirror.

4. An object is placed at a distance of 25 cm away from a converging mirror of focal length

20cm. Discus the effect on the nature and position of the image if the position of the object
changes from 25 cm to 15 cm. Justify your answer without using mirror formula.

5. A 5cm tall object is placed perpendicular to the principal axis of a convex mirror of focal
length 10 cm. The distance of the object from the mirror 15 cm. Find the nature, position and
size of the image. Also find its magnification.
