Dimensions of Intelligence
The candidates Intelligence score is a measure of his/her general intellectual ability and was measured by assessing his/her abilities on six dimensions. Each of these domains is not only important to his/her Intelligence, but also determines his/her ability to learn and process new information. Although each of these domains is distinctly different from the others, some dimensions are related. For example, ones verbal ability can contribute to the ability to reason logically. Evaluating the scores on each of the six dimensions will help to determine the candidates strongest intellectual abilities. The six intelligence dimensions are:

Generally, it is the ability to understand numbers and arrange them in a way to solve problems or answer questions. The candidates mathematical abilities not only include his/her ability to understand numbers, but more specifically include his/her ability to dissect geometric shapes, construct equations, and perform arithmetic calculations. A high Mathematical Ability Score indicates an extensive understanding of numbers, skill in both manipulation and computation of numbers, and a deep understanding of the rules that govern basic geometry, algebra, and calculus. Additionally, individuals who have high Mathematical Ability Scores are more likely to enjoy solving mathematical problems and more likely to excel in areas that require them to use math to solve complex problems.

Spatial Ability Score reflects the candidates capability to visualize and mentally manipulate spatial configurations of two or three dimensions, ability to visualize the orientation of spatial objects, and to perceive relationships among objects in space. This ability is important in tasks that require orienting ones self while using a map or visualizing how assembled objects will look prior to their construction. A high Spatial Ability Score indicates an individuals ability to conceptualize the space or distance between different objects or between different objects and themselves. Pattern recognition is the ability to see the order behind seemingly unordered concepts, actions, symbols, or images. Pattern recognition is highly related to general intelligence because pattern recognition is a key component of verbal, mathematical, spatial and logical abilities. Pattern recognition is even more important to logic because your ability to make logical connections is tied to whether or not you can make sense of the complex concepts, actions, or objects that you are tying to draw connections between. Individuals who are high in pattern recognition are skilled at identifying and anticipating patterns and may be talented in art design, music, or mathematics.

Short-term memory is the part of memory that retains a small amount of information for a short period of time. Short term memory usually lasts anywhere from 30 to 45 seconds. Researchers have shown that short term memory can hold approximately seven items. An item could be a single digit or letter or a whole number, word, or concept. The candidates short term Memory score is not a measure of how many items he/she can hold because the norm is seven items regardless of the individual. However, the candidates Short Term Memory Score is a measure of how long his/her short term memory retains information because the length that short term memory holds information fluctuates more between individuals than the number of items that are retained by this form of memory. Individuals who have high Short Term Memory Scores are more skilled at manipulating information needed to execute complex cognitive tasks. In addition, these people are more likely to quickly comprehend and remember a series of simple facts.
