HEALING OUR BLINDNESS Blindness and darkness are synonymous. When one is blind, all he can see is darkness and in darkness, nothing is clear, everything is obscure. Blindness is truly a great disaster in life, yet we see some people who have been blind from birth but can still perform extraordinary and great things in life that they become inspiration to others. These people may be blind physically, but they can sense through their hearts and souls the transcendental realities: love, faith, eternity, God. In todays gospel, the blind man does not see the material world, but he knows and sees the spiritual reality, he can sense the presence of God in Christ. His faith sees what his eyes cannot see. In contrast, some of those who see Jesus physically are spiritually blind that they missed Gods presence in their midst. They did not see God in Jesus Christ. They were blinded by their prejudice. Our world is plunged into great darkness due to blindness of the truth. Many are morally blind, who have no sense of sin and continue to offend God through sinful ways of life, without remorse of conscience. Spiritual blindness destroys life, human dignity and endangers the soul of eternal damnation. Our only hope to see clearly is Jesus Christ, the Light of the world. May He continue to heal the blindness in our world.
