Film Viewing: Jose Rizal, GMA Films, directed by Marilou Diaz
Abaya (Cesar Montano as Rizal)
Name: Pangantihan, Lenard J. Section: BSED-Math-2A Write a reflection paper about the film using the following guide questions: 1. Describe the life of Jose Rizal as represented in the film. Rizal story was full of difficulties it is like a roller coaster like when he was in younger years he was bullied because he was small and other of her classmates is jealous of his intelligences and also because of his races but because of this difficulties in life, cruelty and abuse that he seen in his younger years it molds him and gave him an inspiration in writing his to novels the Noli me Tangere and El filibusterismo but despite of what he write about his two novels he is not desiring violence o liberate his country to the Spaniards but he desire to have an equal rights between Spanish and Filipinos he wants justice and unity among the Filipinos rather than brutality. 2. Based on your reading and class discussion, what can you say about the film's representation of Jose Rizal? Base on my observation in the film I must say the representation of Rizal in film is precise but some of the scene is fictional this movie of Jose Rizal represent the tragic history of the Philippines specially the life of Jose Rizal yet the two novels death of Rizal awakes the Filipinos nationalism that time as we can see in the movie when Rizal executed and died the Philippine revolution more rise and this revolution eventually liberate our country this movie depicts not only the nationalism of Jose Rizal yet it depicts also the nationalism of the Filipinos when he died 3. What is the main question that the film seeks to answer? For me the Jose Rizal movie seek to answer how Rizal become a national hero because many says and believe that Rizal must not be the national hero of Filipinos it must be Bonifacio because they argued that Rizal only use paper and pen to fight the Spanish while Bonifacio sacrificed or offer his life to fight Spanish but the answers the question how Rizal become a national hero the movie tackles not only the two novels of Rizal but his also sacrifices to fight for justice and oppression through his difficulties in is life just to stand on his own principles in believe and even faces death that makes him a national hero and also without the works of Rizal specially his two novels the Filipinos will not awaken the Philippine nationalism. 4. What is your own reflection based on the film and your understanding? In my own understanding in the movie we Filipinos must always stand in the truth and must always opposed the any form of oppression and racism just like Rizal he stand against the oppression of Spaniard against the Filipinos and condemn racism because he is also bullied because of his race and yet he is not removed his indent of being Filipinos but fight to have an equal rights for both Filipinos and Spaniard and also the movie realized to have always nationalism two our hearts we must love our own country despite of this flaws because at the end of the day we Filipinos will help each out in all problems and difficulties in our country because we are family in our one country
