CLASS X - Physics

Topic- Light Re ection.

Worksheet 1
Date- 22 May’ 25

Answer in one word

1. Name the property of light by which it travels on a straight path?
2. Name the spherical mirror which has a) positive focal length b) always form virtual image
3. Draw the ray diagram given below in your answer book and show the direction of the light ray
after re ection.

4 What is the nature of the image formed by a concave mirror if the magni cation produced by
the mirror is:
(a) +3 and b) -1. Predict the size of the image formed.
5. For a concave mirror draw a ray diagram to show re ected ray for a ray incident at its pole.

Two marks questions (30words)

1 Where should an object be placed in front of a concave mirror of focal length 20 cm so
as to obtain two times magni ed real image?
2 State the relation between object distance, image distance, and focal length of a spiracle mirror.
3 A concave mirror produces four times magni ed real image of an object at 10 cm in front of it.
Find the position of image. Is it direct or inverted?

4. Complete the following diagram.

5. What is the minimum number of race required for locating the image formed by a concave
mirror of an object ?Draw a ray diagram to show the formation of a virtual image by a
concave mirror.

THREE MARKS QUESTIONS (50 words)

1 An image 2/3rd of the size of the object is formed by a concave mirror at a distance of 20 cm
from it .Find the focal length of the mirror.
2 a)A ray of light passing through centre of curvature of a concave mirror is incident on its
re ecting surface. What is the angle of incidence and angle of re ection of this ray of light?

5. Why do we prefer to use,
a) A convex mirror as a rear view mirror in vehicles?
b) A concave mirror in search lights?
c) Give the value of (A) the angle of incidence and( B) the angle of re ection for normal incidence of
light on a concave mirror.

FIVE MARKS QUESTIONS (70-80 words)

1 a)Illustrate with the help of ray diagram for a convex mirror the following terms
1)Principal focus 2) centre of curvature
b)An object 2 cm high when placed in front of a converging mirror produces
a virtual image of 3 cm. If the object is placed at a distance of 8 cm from the poll of the
mirror calculate,
i) Position of the image. ii)Focal length of the converging mirror.

2 Draw neat diagrams to show the nature and size of the image in the following cases.
a) Object is placed beyond C of a concave mirror
b) Object is placed between C and F of a concave mirror
c) Object is placed anywhere between in nity and the P of a convex mirror

3 De ne the following with a neat read diagrams

a)Focus of a concave mirror. b) Focus of a convex mirror

4 Mention the characteristics of image formed by a plane mirror

b)Name the types of mirrors that should be used
I) as a rear view mirror ii) by the dentist iii) mirror tted on the wall of the Taj Mahal.

5 State the types of mirrors required to get i) virtual and diminished image of an object
ii) real and inverted image of an object.
Show image formation in both the above cases in the form of a ray diagrams. Which of the
above mirrors can also form, i) real and magni ed ii) virtual and magni ed images of the object?
