Woodruff Church of God e-Edition Newsletter June 5, 2012

Pastors Notes: THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU!!!!! Thank you goes to all those that helped organize a Relay For Life Team from our church. The annual Relay For Life was held this past Friday night inside the Leisure Center. I was so proud to see the people from our church who are cancer survivors. You inspire us and give hope to those that are currently fighting the dreaded disease called cancer. I also watched with great appreciation those who had served as care givers. I think too often we fail to think of and remember those that tirelessly give care to those who are fighting cancer. All who attended from the church had a great time Id also like to say thank you to all who helped plan the surprise birthday party for me after the service Sunday night. Im truly BLESSED!!!!! You worked so hard setting up tables and chairs, decorating, making cards, etc. Thank you for preparing the food and especially for the beautiful birthday cake and ice cream! Thanks to everyone who gave me a card and to those who also included a gift. That was not necessary but just wanted you to know how much I appreciate it all.

I have two memorable moments: One was the old woman who stopped by to blessed me (thanks Ms. Donna!) and whoever put together that video of my hairstyles. HILARIOUS!!!!! I suppose one final memorable moment was looking at all the people who stayed after church to fellowship together with me. I will always remember that night..at least I hope so since Im so old now!!!!!!!!

Please pray for some of our Childrens Ministry and Youth Ministry that is traveling to Cordova, Alabama on Friday. They are going to do ministry in one of the area that was hard hit by tornadoes last year. This church is still struggling to finish work on the church and looking to impact the community by reaching children and youth. Please be in prayer for them as they travel and pray that they will make an impact on that community and that souls will be won for the glory of God!!!!! Also, they will be feeding the community while there. If you would like to donate food to this cause, please see Pastor Jason or Ms. Donna. Please dont forget our SPECIAL SERVICE this Sunday. Our special guest will be Pastor/Overseer Manuel Sorto from Honduras. We are SO honored to have him visit the United States and to be with us in service. He will be preaching and Rev. Chris Jarrad will be interpreting. I want us to really show the love of Jesus to Pastor Manuel. I want him to sincerely sense our love and compassion for him and for the churches he represents. I want him to leave Woodruff knowing that our church truly loves him and is partnering with him to help him reach his section of Honduras. SEE YOU IN CHURCH SUNDAY!!!!!!! Im so excited about FATHERS DAY! We will be doing a special RESOLUTION SERVICE with men and their families who have walked through the resolutions from the movie Courageous. Right now, about 30 men, have walked through the resolutions..studying them and trying to put them into action in their lives, marriages and relationships. This could very well be a HUGE BEGINNING of something absolutely wonderful in the life of our church. You will not want to miss this service. Video clips, special prayers, Biblical challenges and the actual resolution are only part of this service. Make your plans to be with us in church..WITH YOUR FAMILIES. On June 17th, at 10:30 AM. There will be no service on Fathers Day Sunday night. Please take this time to spend with your families and build memories. The Woodruff Ministerial Association and area churches are working together on a project to aid District 4 students and parents with school supplies for next school year. This project is called GREAT START WOODRUFF. District 4 is allowing us to hold this event on their campus but in doing so, we must provide for all students. This is a mammoth undertaking, yet God has already begun working miracles. 2000 back packs have been donated to this cause!!!!! Several church are put together to work on a few of the items. Our items are: 1) 1,900 packs of #2 pencils, 2) 875 pencil sharpeners with covers, 3) 300 pencil pouches with 3 holes, 4) 500 pens (blue/black). Ive asked our ministries to be involved but I want you to be involved as well. There will be a box in the lobby for you to place your items in. Together, we can make this event a huge success. On that day, there will be free haircuts given, a prayer tent to provide prayer for any person or family that wants prayer. Each book bag will also have a copy of the Word of God in it. This is a huge opportunity for our churches in Woodruff to impact our community. Please help us in this endeavor!!! Thank You!!!
