SETTING UP THE PRINTER
Unpacking the printer Finding a suitable location Assembling the printer Testing the printer Connecting the printer to your computer
After removing the parts, save the packing materials in case you need to transport your printer. Removing the protective materials The printer is protected during shipping by locking the paper sprockets and the printer cover are prevented from vibration by using paper tape. These protective items must be removed before you turn the printer on.

In case of your site condition not meeting the above limits, you must go for a voltage stabilizing equipment, which will ensure regulated supply of voltage to your printer. You may install i. ii. iii. Servo voltage stabilizer with high/low trip unit. CVT (Constant Voltage Transformer)/Line conditioner. UPS (Uninterrupted Power Supply).

2. Open the tractor cover. 3. Align the holes in the paper with the tractor paper feed pins.
4. If necessary, pull the tractor lock lever to release the tractor and adjust the tractor positions for the width of the paper being used. 5. Close the tractor covers and adjust the position of the paper. Gently push the two tractors outward to remove any slack in the paper.

6. Move the friction lever to the tractor feed position (toward the front of the printer). 7. Make sure the power is turned on. 8. Make sure the power is turned ON. 9. The paper advances to the TOF position automatically whenever the print command is executed. This operation is valid when the paper us present in the paper track.
10. If loading fails you have to load the paper through LOAD/EJECT button. You can move the paper forward/backward in minute steps called Micro Adjustment by using LF/FF and FONT button.
WARNING:
Never advance the paper using the platen knob except in the case of a paper jam or other paper feed problem. Using the platen knob while the printer is ON may damage the paper feeding mechanism and effect the loading position.
NOTE:
1. If the paper is not loaded or skewed after loading, completely remove the paper and reinsert it more firmly. 2. Now hold the online switch for more than 3 seconds, now ONLINE light blinks indicating that the Top of Form adjustment is enabled. You may press the LF/FF button to move the paper forward and FONT to move the paper backward in minute steps. Press Online switch to confirm the settings. Once you adjust this, the value (TOF) is stored till the next change. 3. To eject the paper, press the ON LINE button to make the printer off line and then press LOAD/EJECT switch. 4. The left edge of a cut sheet paper should be always less than 5.5 cms from the printer starting position to avoid the paper out indication.

To get the proper printing, make sure that the print head gap (through bail lever) position should be selected as shown above. Always return the bail lever to position 3 when you go back to printing on ordinary paper. Continuous printing with lever set at a position higher than 3 can shorten the life of the printhead.
15
Multi-part forms
With the built-in tractor unit, your printer can print continuous multi-part forms (four parts including the original). You can load the multi-part paper in the same way as you load continuous paper. The only difference is that the paper thickness lever is to be adjusted before loading.
NOTE: Multi-part forms should not be used without adjust the print head gap
position.
Labels
If you need to print labels, choose the type of label that is mounted on a continuous backing sheet with sprocket holes for use with the tractor. Do not use single sheet labels on a shiny backing sheet because they almost always slip a little if fed by friction alone. Load the labels the same way as you load continuous paper; just adjust the paper thickness lever before loading.
WARNING:
Never feed labels backward through the printer. Labels can easily come off the backing and jam the printer. Also, never use the sheet load lever to eject labels or to feed labels backward to the standby position. Since labels are especially sensitive to temperature and humidity, always use them under normal operating conditions.
Envelopes
You can feed envelopes individually using the single sheet-loading feature. Adjust the paper thickness lever before loading.
CAUTION:
Always keep the longer side of the envelope horizontal. Envelope printing is only available at normal operating conditions. If you use No.6 envelopes, make sure that the left edge guide is aligned with the arrow on the paper guide.

Note: When the paper reaches the factory-set loading position, the printer
beeps and micro-adjustment feed pauses for a moment before continuing. You can use this factory setting as a reference point when adjusting the printer's loading position.
When the paper reaches either minimum or maximum top margin, the printer beeps and the paper stops moving.
4. Once you have adjusted the loading position for the paper, the printer
remembers this new loading position, and loads paper at this new position, till the next change

Return denotes the twisted-pair return, to be connected at signal ground level. For the interface wiring, be sure to use a twisted-pair cable for each signal and to complete the connection in the return side. These cables should be shielded and connected to the chassis of the host computer and the printer. All interface conditions are based on TTL level. Both the rise and the fall times of each signal must be less than 0.2 S. Observing the ACKNLG or BUSY signal must carry out data transfer. Data transfer to this printer can be carried out only after receipt of the ACKNLG signal or when the level of the BUSY signal is LOW.

CHAPTER 7 LANGUAGE SELECTION ENABLING / DISABLING LANGUAGE Escape Command for Language selection.
The escape command recommended for selecting language, is as given below. To select language one needs to send Esc t 3 where 3 is the parameter defining Bilingual character set in which one can print English & optional language. For selecting Character set 1) Character Set Selection ESC t (Parameter) 0- ITALICS 1-GRAPHICS 2-USER CG 3-Bilingual (Optional Language) ESC t 3 enables the optional language and will be under enabled condition till the user switches off the printer or changes to any other ESC t options. If the user wishes to keep Optional language enabled even after Power Off, in such case Optional should be selected through printer settings where in there is no need to give ESC command to enable Optional. Selecting Bilingual (ENG & Optional Language) character set through printer settings 1. Default character set will be Graphics in which we can use the printer to print English & graphics. 2. For printing Italics or Bilingual (Optional) the settings can be altered by going into character set change option in printer setting mode. In this mode any of the three character sets Italics, Graphics or Bilingual (Optional) can be selected which will be stored into EEPROM.
