    The Ground Team Leader (GTL) is responsible for the safety and coordination of the ground search team. The GTL assigns roles to team members which include navigators, radio operators, data recorders, medics, and skirmish line members. At the mission site, the GTL briefs the team, plans sorties, and ensures safety during the search. When a target is located, the GTL determines if the area is safe and coordinates first aid and radio contact with the mission base. Each team member has specific duties before, during, and after the mission to support the search efforts led by the GTL.

    Leader: Control the actions of the team when on a mission. Manager: Responsible for development and training of the team

    The GTL delegates tasks to the team members. He does not do all of them himself.
