Introduction
In order to construct an effective opening sequence for my production I was

expected to be able to utilize different hardware and softwares to achieve the
best possible result. Along the course of shaping my production I learnt a lot in
terms of enhancing my ability to use both complex hardware and software,
whereas before I was not able to. However, in comparison to then I now
acquire the skills needed to operate certain websites and equipment and this
is evident from both my production and work.
Camera (Canon 700)
The camera was fundamentally the most important factor in our production
as it allowed us to film the entirety of our 2 minute opening sequence by
constructing the shots we needed. As the director, my role concerning
camerawork was fairly limited but still existent as it was expected for me to
alter/change any decisions I felt were in need of amendment. At first I found
handling the camera in terms of how to record/stop/play difficult but when I
was walked through it multiple times by my teacher and the cinematographer
I finally got the hang of it. Some complex technological aspects, such as
manual focussing was also difficult to grasp as it involved ensuring that the
cinematographers shot was both focussed and of good quality. However, due
to high quality camera and by practicing and analysing the cinematographer I
was able to achieve this technique when filming.
Tripod
This piece of equipment enabled us to conveniently keep the camera
both steady and stable when filming static shots allowing them to seem
more realistic. This inevitably made the filming process a lot easier as
without it, we would find it difficult to maintain shots at eye-level which
is actually how we needed the camera most of the time. The tripod also
allowed us to explore a number of varied shots simply by adjusting the
length and width of the camera. Overall, this was the easiest piece of
equipment to handle as it didnt require much attention and also played
a vital role in ensuring that shots were both accurate and efficient.
Rode Microphone
This particular hardware was also one of the most important
components in constructing our production. It enhanced the sound
element of our sequence by amplifying various sounds to make them
seem more realistic and therefore aiding to the effectiveness of our
opening sequence. As we experienced the upheaval of unnecessary
background noise due to construction work in school, this piece of
equipment played a part in making the editors job easier when dubbing
over the noises. Overall, the microphone was fairly easy to understand
and handle during the entirety of our production.
Softwares Used
During our production, most of my work was done on the iMac at school and
my laptop at home. We were expected to use a variety of different software's
such as Blogger, Prezi, Scribd, Microsoft Office software's and more. Blogger
was arguably the most important as this was where we uploaded all work
which meant we had to familiarise ourselves with how to use it as it was
quite difficult to grasp at first. However, once I got the hang of it I used it to
upload all my work which I constructed using additional software's such as
Scribd & Prezi. Scribd was also an essential software as it enabled us to
upload all of my completed word documents onto the blog. The reason to
why we utilized a variety of software's when completing our production work
was to showcase our ability enhance our creativeness and also explore how
to use other softwares. Our creativeness can be reflected through the
software's Prezi and PowToon 'which enabled our work to seem both
presentable and professional yet still enjoyable to view.
YouTube
YouTube was where we uploaded our final media production. As
we were fairly experienced regarding this software due to the
fact that its used frequently by millions of people around the
world including us, we did not encounter any major upheavals
regarding how to operate it.
This software is also the platform to what made our media
product available to everyone around the world.
Additional Equipment
We also used things like USB/Hard Drives in order to import and export files
into various softwares
All our recorded footage would also be on SD cards where we were able to
transfer it onto our iMacs
Batteries for different equipment.
