Autism is a developmental disorder appearing in early childhood that affects social interaction, language, and behavior. Symptoms vary but include poor social skills, difficulties with communication, and repetitive behaviors. While the causes are not fully known, autism has genetic and environmental factors. Diagnosis involves developmental testing by specialists, though there is no medical test. Treatment focuses on behavior, communication, and educational therapies, with the goal of helping each individual reach their full potential.
