Career:
A persons course or progress through life.
It also pertains to his occupational or profession that usually involves special training
or formal education.
It is considered to be a persons life work.
Career development:
Career development is an ongoing process of gaining knowledge and improving
skills that will help an individual to establish a career plan.(example mohsin)

Career Planning
The process of managing career goals and individual capabilities with
opportunities for their fulfillment.
The deliberate process through which someone becomes aware of personal
skills, interests, knowledge, motivations, and other characteristics; and
establishes action plans to attain specific
goals.
REASON FOR CAREER DEVELOPMENT :
Every individual whether he is a student, professor, politician or even an artist must have to plan the career
before step in to the practical field. There are following reason to plan.
Be a source of great pride because we are born once.

Survival for the fittest to compete with others and to be unique.
Give you a positive self-image and sense of accomplishment
Determine where you live and what company do you have.
Largely determine your standard of living.
REASONS OF FAILURE:
Never plan for the future.

Follow the crowd
Choose by influence of others.
Accept the parents verdict(decision) by force
Get tempted by current trends
Jump into any career
Lack motivation
Fail to discover their lives
Live in a fantasy world(creating image of fighting with dragons etc
WHO ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR INDIVIDUAL FAILURE:
Students themselves.
Parents - most of them.
Teachers - not every body.
Schools & Colleges majority of them.
Society and Government.
People who have knowledge.
People who achieved success but forgot others.
People who can influence others for good.

Discovering Yourself:
Knowing and understanding of self better to know if you are in the right job/career or you want
to go to another job.
Your Personality
Your Interests.
Your Skills ( Aptitudes, Abilities).
Your Lifes Goals.
Current Job Trends.
STEP # 02
Work/Career Exploration
Matching and aligning what you want to do on one hand, and with the various
opportunities, on the other hand.
List down career options that is match with your interest, personality, needs,
values and skills, on one hand and the opportunities and limitations, on the
other.
STEP # 03
Making a decision:
This step will let you choose the best from among the list which will be conformity to the
following points.
Description of your ideal job
Personal Mission Statement
Job Requirements or Qualifications
STEP # 04
Set a career goal /evaluating the decision:

This process will give you focus and it will motivate you to overcome obstacles that will keep you from achieving
your goal. In order to have a good goal it should have the following characteristics
1. Specific
2. Measurable
3. Attainable
4. Relevant
5. Time-bound
6. Action-oriented
STEP # 05
Taking action:
Individual have to start working on his decision and should try to develop his skills according to
his goal.
He should have to develop his personality goal commitment
according to profession.
For example:
Politician, doctor actor, singer
Self belief plan
and engineer.(need explanation)

BARRIERS IN ACHIEVING GOAL:
You have dreams for your life, yet it can sometimes feel impossible to make them real.
but taking action requires courage , the ability to withstand fear, humiliation, and
discomfort. So there are following barrier in achieving a goal or to have a perfect
career.
1.Camparing yourself with other.
2. Perfectionism.
3.Care about what other think.
4. Fair of failure.
5. Impatience.
WAYS TO OVERCOME THE BARRIERS:
1.Comparing yourself with other.

Its so easy to fall into the trap of comparison. By comparing yourself will drag you down and
reinforce a mentality of scarcity and fear, e.g., thinking youre not good enough.
Recognize that no one has your exact style, experiences, and knowledge, which has led you to the
path youre on.
Have a clear vision and stop comparing with other.
Focus on developing yourself. Youre a work in progress
Compare yourself to a previous version of you, and celebrate all the progress youve made since
then.
2.Perfectionism:
Nothing is perfect and looking for a perfect opportunity led to over-thinking and high anxiety.
Simply put, if perfectionism is your standard, then you have no standard its a fantasy.
Realize that most decisions are reversible.
Differentiate between what to have and nice to have(explain)
Set realistic goals.
3.Care about what other think.

The need for approval and avoidance of rejection has been ingrained in us since childhood.
youre only trying to get people to like you by pretending to be someone else not the real you.
Discontent is the result of being disconnected from your authentic self.
Know that rejection is merely another persons opinion. It informs you of the other
persons preference but doesnt say anything about you as a person.
Ask yourself whats more important to you than the approval of other people and
make that your priority.
4. Fear of failure:
Fear is a protection mechanism with the purpose of keeping you safe and out of
danger.
See failures as lessons that will only allow you to get better if you learn from
your mistakes.
Associate the discomfort you feel with growth instead of fear. If youre moving
in the direction of your dreams, this only means youre growing into your
potential.
5. Impatience:
Our culture craves immediate gratification. However, a vision takes time. Success is a step by
step progress there is no shortcut for success.
Focus on the next small step that will move you closer to your vision.
confidence comes from competence and hard work`.
CONCLUSION
The purpose of life, after all, is to live it, to taste experience to the utmost, to
reach out eagerly and without fear for newer and richer experiences

enthusiasm therefore we should remain persistent on
goal
Always have a alternate option and dont lose patience
