Solid State RF Generator

This document provides information on radio frequency heating and drying technology. It discusses how radio frequency works at a molecular level to heat materials evenly throughout. RF heating is described as faster and more uniform than conventional heating methods. The document outlines the components and working of an embedded solid state RF generator design for dielectric heating applications. The generator uses a high voltage air core inductor to generate radio frequencies for heating. Key advantages of the system include compact size, reliability, and efficient precise temperature control.

Introduction
Radio frequency:
4It is spectrum within range of 3khz to 300Ghz.

4This field can be used for wireless broadcasting and

communication over some significant portion of spectrum.
Radio frequency Heating:
4In RF heating system ,RF generator creates an
alternating electric field betn two electrodes .

4Material to be heated is conveyed betn electrodes ,

where polar molecules are to be reoriented continuously
to the face opposite to electrodes.

4RF heating is different,it heats at molecular level so

heats on entire mass.

Radio frequency drying:

4Conventional dried product is hot outside and wet

inside.

4With RF drying product is dry inside and wet outside.

4If material has high loss factor ,it absorbs energy

quickly and heat quickly.
RF V/S Microwave heating:
4 Faster heating and drying times.
4 More even heating and drying .
4 Self limiting during drying.
4 Moisture leveling and profiling.
4 Selective heating.
4 Instant start and stop.
4 Energy efficiency.
4 Speed and uniformity.
4 Some environment issues.
4 Moisture equilibration.
4 Space saving,Physical contact,Efficiency,Precise
control.
 $
4-hmic heating:
D Require electrical current to pass th. Conducting material
to be heated.
D Does not uniformly heat the entire portion of material.
4 Induction heating:
D Apply rapidly alternating magnetic field to induce
electrical current to flow .
D Does not work well with non metallic material.

4Microwave heating:
D do not penetrate deeply into material to be heated.
DCause localized overheating .
Dielectric heating :
4 It is instantaneous and does not require direct contact betn
hot surface and material.
4 So material need not to be electrically conductive need to be
capacitive lossy
4 This heaters operate on tens of MHz
4 It is used in food processing industry, can be backed , dryed,
pasteurized .
4 Moisture content can be controlled precisely.
4 Conventional dielectric heater uses vaccum tubes to produce
KW RF energy. but they r bulky, less lifespan, expensive.
4 So reliable ,affordable and efficient means and way is
needed to generate RF power for dielectric heating.
