Acknowledgment

We acknowledge all the people that helped us in performing this

presentation specially:

Who gave us a lot of their time and gave us the great support
Agenda
 The purpose of the well services

 The main operations in well services

 Some problems & recommended solutions

The purposes of the well services

 Gathering data for:

1- reservoir engineers
2- production technologist
(P,T, Q, reservoir properties , well properties , …..)
 Execute activities to:
1- optimize the flow rate
2- maintain the well integrity
 Manage the well integrity
The main operations
 Wireline:

-Perforation

-Running down and pulling up some equipment

-Logging

-Tests
Coil Tubing:

-Acid washing

-Acid stimulation

-Nitrogen bull heading

-Nitrogen lift

-Remedial cementing
Surface Maintenance

-Maintenance of the Xmass tree

-Flush flow line

There are some contractors which help us to

perform these operations , like: Sapesco,

Schlumberger, Gharib, Superior, PPS, …

Well services problems

Corrosion Leaking Attrition

failure
1- Leaking:

We face this problem in many parts of the

well:
• The tubing
• The packer
• Sliding side door (SSD)
• Cement
• Casing
• Xmass tree

Leaking
2- Corrosion
We may have corrosion in the equipment (tubing, production
casing, the plugs,…) because of:
1- H2S
2- CO2
3- Chloride
4- Oxygen
5- Bacteria
How do we handle these problems?
1- Leaking:

We usually monitor the pressure inside the tubing and the annulus
For every envelope we have an allowable range of pressure changes
As shown in this table:

conventional cemented conventional cemented conventional cemented

A <2000 psi >500 psi 2000-2500 psi 500-1000 psi >2500 psi <1000 psi

B >2000 psi >150 psi 2000-2500 psi 150-300 psi <2500 psi >300 psi

C >150 psi 150-300 psi <300 psi

Special equipment
In AFPC we identified Safety Critical Equipment which we always monitor,
test and maintain

These components are:

 Subsurface Safety Valve (SSSV)
 Xmass tree valves
 Wellhead seals
 Annuli (and associated tubing, liner and casing)
 Well conductor

In well services section we do inspection on the normal wells Twice a year,

and we receive reports from the production technologists during the life of
the well

Attrition
One of the main problems that we have in the section is the loss off the
members whose experience are 4-6 years as shown in this histogram:

To limit this problem:
 Increase the rewards and compensations by:
• Giving more courses (overseas , in-house )
• Participation in conferences and workshops
 Give them a chance to work out for some time and go back again
with more experience
 Modify on the punishment policy to be stronger
 Communicate with other companies to prevent any of AFPC staff
from working with them without a clear approval from AFPC
