INTRODUCTION
BACKGROUND
Kitwe is the second largest city in Zambia with a population of
522,092 people.
One of the most developed town
Approximate area is about 777𝑘𝑚2
Kitwe’s road network has led to heavy tonnage which has brought
about negative impacts on the design life of roads and safety.
SCOPE OF STUDY
SPECIFIC OBJECTIVES
To assess the condition of the pavement structure and road
furniture.
To investigate how the increase of traffic has an impact on road
safety.
To assess the level of compliance of road users to laid down road
safety regulations.
To investigate the efforts that law enforcers and other stake holders
put in to ensure road regulations are followed.
To assess how much road users know about traffic regulations and
safety.
METHODOLOGY
1. CONDUCT A DESK STUDY
Gathering and surveying of existing and accessible
literature on road safety and related issues.
2. DATA COLLECTION.
Site observation
Pedestrian survey
Interviews with various stakeholders.
3. DATA ANALYSIS.
Analysis of the collected data both qualitatively and
quantitatively.
4. DATA INTEPRETATION
To present the analysed data in a logical format by
compiling a report on the findings and results
.
