Chainless Bycycle
• Bevel gears are most often mounted on shafts that are 90 degrees apart, but can
be designed to work at other angles as well.
• The purpose of gears is to transmit motion and torque from one shaft to another.
• That transmission normally has to occur with a constant ratio, the lowest
possible disturbances and the highest possible efficiency.
• Tooth profile, length hand shape are derived from those requirements. Spiral
bevel gears have their teeth formed along spiral lines.
Design of Bevel
Gear
• GEAR DESIGN CONSIDERATIONS
1. The power rating of the prime mover, its overload potential, and the uniformity of its
output torque
2. The normal output loading, peak loads and their duration, and the possibility of stalling
or severe loading at infrequent intervals
3. Inertia loads arising from acceleration or deceleration

Solving basic
Issues
• Abrasive wearing and tearing of gear and shaft mechanism can be reduced
drastically by protecting the bevel gear and shaft mechanism using aluminium
casing.
