Basic Types of Menu
LO 3: Take food and beverage orders.
What is Menu?
 It is a list of specific food or dishes that fit the
meal pattern selected.
 It is a detailed list of food and beverage
offerings with their respective prices.
 It is a list of the food that may be ordered at a
restaurant.
 This refers to the food that are served at a
meal.
What are the Functions of Menu?
1. Breakfast Menu
2. AM Snack Menu
3. Brunch Menu
4. Lunch Menu
5. PM Snack Menu
6. Merienda Cena Menu
7. Dinner Menu
8. Midnight Snack
Types of Menu:
1. Table d’ hote – this is a set menu forming a
complete meal at a set price.
2. A La Carte – a menu with all the dishes
individually priced.
3. A Special Party Menu – these are menus for
banquets and parties of all kinds like
birthday, wedding receptions,
anniversaries, debuts, conventions, etc.
Types of Menu:
4. Du Jour Menu - this kind of menu features
an item of the day and changes every day
5. Cycle Menu – a set of menus rotated to a
definite pattern.
6. Selective Menu – a complete meal that
provides choices or selections of courses.
7. Ethnic Menu - these are offered by specialty
restaurants that concentrate on a type of
cuisine
