behind the circulation
desk.
Smart Board Area
There are 6
tables
surrounding the
Smart Board in
the library.
There are also
two round
tables directly
behind the
oblong tables.
Bean-bag Area
 Students that are
awarded for good
behavior are allowed to
lounge in the bean-bag
area and read AR or
read the magazines
that are located on the
shelves in that area.

As you may see, the
lighting in this area is not
very good.
Although it is a poorly lit
corner of the library,
students enjoy lounging
on the bean-bags when
they are allowed to do so.
Computer Area
There are 8 student
computers in the library.
Both workstations look like
the one in the picture.
Due to funding, there are
no laptops for students or
teachers in the library.
Storage Room
The storage room is a

large room housed in the
very back of the library.
Students are not allowed
in this area. This room
holds most of the
equipment that teachers
can check out. Also,
classroom book sets are
stacked on the shelves
lining the walls in the
back of the room.

the back of the library
and is used to store old
computers and laptops.
This storage room is
actually about the same
size as a small closet.

 Most non-fictional
books found in the
library are very old
books. However,
there is a wide variety
of non-fictional books
that can be found in
our library.

time, the media
clerk does the
work for the
teachers and
returns it to their
classrooms.

Current Media Center Policy
 In order to reserve the library, faculty

members should sign up one day in advance.
If teaching assistance skills lessons are to be
provided, faculty members should sign up
one week in advance.
 Teachers may send up to 3 students to the
library at one time.
 A request form for the selection of new

materials is in the teacher handbook.
Requests are honored as soon as possible
and kept in a consideration file until funds are
available.
 Orientation for 6th grade will be held during

the first 2-3 weeks of school.
 Orientation for 7th and 8th grade is provided
during the same time period.
 The library will be open from 7:45 A.M. until

3:45 P.M., during all class periods and lunch
periods.
 The staff will reserve equipment and
materials for teachers.
 The staff will plan cooperatively with teachers
on methods and materials to enhance
curriculum objectives.
 The staff will coordinate the accelerated

reading program and assist students in taking
these tests on the computer.
 The staff will provide a place where school
supplies may be purchased.
 An audiovisual room is provided for storage
of equipment.
 Seating capacity for 64 students is provided.
 The staff will come promptly to your room (if

at all possible) when a problem arises with
equipment.

each school will be responsible for the

sharing of current copyright information to
each school’s faculty and staff.
Employee/ Computer Internet Use
 All employees will learn to use email and
telecommunication tools and apply them in

appropriate ways in the performance of their
positions.
Internet Safety
 Use of the internet must be in support of
education and research and consistent with

the educational mission, goals, and
objectives of the school system.
 Procedures or guidelines developed by the
Superintendent, Administrators, and/or other

personnel will provide for the monitoring of
online activities of users.
Student Records
 The district will comply with requirements of
the Family Educational Rights and Privacy
Act (FERPA) and Pupil Protection Act
(PPRA).
Use of School Facilities
 School facilities may be used by local civic,
educational, cultural, or recreational groups
subject to certain terms and conditions set by
the BOE.
