OF THE B’LAAN
• Bilaan or B’laan- this is a ethno
linguistic group that inhabit
some parts of South Cotabato,
North Cotabato and Davao Del
Sur.
• B’Laan is a combination of two
words “bila” means House and
“an” which means “people”

• They are known for


embroidery
• Brass ornament
• Beadworks integrated in their
traditional clothing
• Wear clothes
woven from abaca B’LAAN
embellished with
embroidery,
buttons and
beads.
• Women's belt is
made of brass and
numerous tiny bells
that hang around
their waistline
TEXTILES USUAL COLOR
OF B’LAAN
• Shades of black and brown
• Red or Ochre (darker color of
orange)
• Ecru(color of undyed abaca)
IKAT

• Is a process of dyeing the fabric


where the yarns are tightly
wrapped with strings and dyed
before weaving
TRADITIONAL CLOTHING
OF THE BAGOBO
• Bagobos are a group of people
that live in Davao

• Bagobo came form two words


“Bago ” meaning “new” and “
Abo” meaning growth
• The ceremonial attire of the Bagobos
are made of special textile woven from
abaca fiber called T’nalak.
• only the girls are allowed to weave the
t’nalak cloth
• Men wear T’nalak shorts, an undershirt
and a T’nalak coat.
• Bagani (hero or warrior) wear the
blood-red clothes and a head kerchieft
called Tangkulu.
• Women wear wrap around t’nalak skirts
and blouses.
• Blouses are adorned with floral
patterns, checkers or paisley prints
