Task 3 Multiple Intelligence Theory

The document discusses Howard Gardner's theory of multiple intelligences, which proposes that human intelligence consists of at least eight modalities or intelligences: verbal-linguistic, logical-mathematical, visual-spatial, bodily-kinesthetic, musical, interpersonal, intrapersonal, and naturalistic. It provides descriptions of each type of intelligence and examples of characteristics and strengths associated with each. The theory suggests that understanding students' dominant intelligences can help teachers adjust their teaching styles to accommodate different learning styles.

Multiple Intelligence

Theory

Prepared by : Liverko Svetlana

INTRODUCTION
Multiple intelligences refers to a theory describing the different ways
students learn and acquire information. These multiple intelligences
range from the use of words, numbers, pictures and music, to the
importance of social interactions, introspection, physical movement
and being in tune with nature. Accordingly, an understanding of
which type(s) of intelligence a student may possess can help teachers
adjust learning styles, and suggest certain career paths for learners.
Multiple intelligences is a theory first posited by Harvard developmental
psychologist Howard Gardner in 1983 that suggests human intelligence
can be differentiated into eight modalities
Verbal-Linguistic Intelligence
refers to an individual's
ability to analyze information individuals are typically

Visual-spatial intelligence
comprehension of maps and other types of graphical information
remembering images, faces, and fine details
remembering information by creating visual pictures
solving visual puzzles
good sense of direction, accurately judge the distance between
themselves and an object
Musical intelligence
People with Musical intelligence recognize sounds and tones with ease.
They have a “good ear” for music and can easily learn songs and
melodies. They notice when someone is singing off-key. People with
musical intelligence are good at imitating sounds or other people’s
voice or intonation.

Rhythm and music can be a way for them to memorize concepts.  They
often learn well through lectures since they are highly auditory.

Conclusion
Identifying each student’s intelligences has strong ramifications
in the classroom.  If a child's intelligence can be identified, then
teachers can accommodate different children more successfully
according to their orientation to learning.
