The document summarizes a simulation of an ATM booth using Arena simulation software. Data was collected on customer arrival and service times and fitted to distributions. An M/M/s queuing model was created in Arena to simulate the ATM booth. The simulation results provided average service time, waiting time, total time per customer and server utilization. The simulation aimed to balance efficient customer service and economic considerations for the ATM booth.

Presentation Title System Model Simulation of ATM Booth Presented By
• Md. Atikur Rahman– 2016334012
• Dewan Iftehaz Hasan - 2016334049 Introduction The model has been built based on collected data from observation of an ATM booth. An ATM booth can be simulated and regarded as a queuing system. The ATM we conducted our simulation on is thought of as a single server queuing system. It is an ATM Booth of Dutch Bangla Bank ltd. and it’s located in Amberkhana point. A model is then created for this system using the arena simulation software. Why Simulation. • ATM, are designed to provide efficient and improved services to customers at the shortest possible time. Yet customers spend a considerable time before they are finally served. • In designing queuing systems we need to aim for balance between service to customers (short queues implying many servers) and economic considerations (not too many servers). • Simulation is used in many contexts, such as simulation of technology for performance optimization, safety engineering, testing, training, education, and video games. Simulation is the imitation of the operation of a real-world process or system over time. Methodology • Identify the system to study, parameters, variables, entities, attribute and activities. • Collect data and develop a distribution • Construction of a basic model. • Adding data to the model. • Performing a simulation run of the model. • Analysis of the simulation results provided by the automatic reports of Arena. Average Service Time = 1.54 min Average Waiting Time = 3.55 min Server Utilization = .16062 = 16.062% Conclusion After running a series of goodness of fit test on inter-arrival times and service times it was considered appropriate to represent the interaction between customers and the ATMs in a typical queuing system arrangement as an M/M/s queuing model. The prevailing operation characteristics are thus computed as output of the M/M/s model via arena simulation.
