write them into the opening sentence(s) of the article.

4.Explanation: After the lead paragraph has been written, the writer must
decide what other facts or details the reader might want to know. The writer

Recently, a foreign student spent one month as a member of
your class in order to learn about your country. You decide to
write an article for your school magazine about the visit.
Write your magazine article. You must include the following:
• The student’s name and other details about the student
• What the student did during the visit both in and out of
school
• Why you feel the visit was of benefit to the student and to
your school.

your article is lively and informative. Start your article with a
suitable headline.
The Voyage Out
The previous week, the headline on the noticeboard caught my eye. According to that,
you had given a chance to the students to volunteer for article writing. Therefore, I
submitted my application and once again, I consider myself extremely fortuitous to be
selected by you. Being a student, it is an honor for me to write for the school and I put
my utmost efforts to make sure that my work is worth a read for everyone.
Returning towards the topic, the previous month, my class received a very special visitor
named Robert Clooney. He, alone, had travelled all the way from UK to Pakistan, not
only to spend a month with different people but also to explore another culture. He,
being a student of World History and Culture at Cambridge University, had described
himself as an inquisitive as well as a very penchant learner. Lately, Robert had
commenced a thesis on his subject and was willing to foster his ideas through a “meet
and greet” series. According to our visitor, through a cline of vast options, he chose our
institution which is, iwis, utterly propitious for us.
During his stay, Robert attended regular classes and made a visit throughout the
school premises. From a gamut of probing through the library books to searching for
the knowledge by means of the school laboratories, he made sure not to skip anything
out. Not to mention, we were even more invigorated to serve our guest in every
possible manner. The teachers, who had welcomed the fresh, yet temporary student,
made knowledgeable provisions to Robert. Most of all, the students’ brio was strong
enough to accompany Robert’s vivacity. Together, we planned for hebdomadal visits
to different corners of the city, especially the historical landmarks. This way, Robert did
not miss out a single chance to get imbued with the local affection and culture.
Additionally, he also made regular excursions to the nearby areas, meeting the people
and inquiring about the traditions.
Practice Question (Article Writing)

important competition. Your Principal is very pleased with the team’s
improvement and asks you to write an article for your school
magazine about the success of the team.
(You can choose any kind of team: for example, debating, quiz,
sports etc.) Write your magazine article. You must include the
following:
some details about the team and the competition it won
why the team was so successful this year
how team members and the whole school have benefited from this
success.
Cover all three points above in detail. You should make sure your
article is lively and informative.
Start your article with a suitable headline.
