Cont…
1. Motivation represents the forces within a person
that affect his or her direction, intensity
and persistence of voluntary behavior

 Direction is refers to the fact that motivation is

goal-oriented, not random.
 Intensity is the amount of effort allocated to the
goal
 Persistence is continuing the effort

6
2) Ability refers to the natural aptitudes and learned
capabilities required to successfully complete
a task
Learned capabilities are the skills and knowledge that
you have actually acquired – including the physical and
mental skills.

Cont.. The employee have the accurate role perceptions.

The way to improve role perceptions:

1. to describe each employee’s required responsible and to show
how those goals relate to the goals,
2. employees clarify their role perceptions as they work together over
time and receive frequent and meaningful performance feedback.

4). Situational Factors: include conditions beyond the employee’s

immediate control that constrain or facilitate his or her
behavior and performance
such as: time, people, budget, and physical
facilities

8
Social Learning Theory:
Learning by Observing
 SLT : a theory stating that much learning
occurs by observing others and than
modeling the behavior s that lead to
favorable outcomes and avoiding
behaviors that lead to punishing
 SLT posits that individuals learn with and
from others
 This form of learning occurs in 3 ways:
