What is Zumba?

➢ Zumba is a popular fitness program inspired by Latin dance.


➢ The word "Zumba" comes from a Colombian word that means to move fast and
have fun, which is just how people describe the routine. Using upbeat Latin music
together with cardiovascular exercise, Zumba is aerobic dancing that is lots of fun
and easy to learn.
➢ Zumba is a cardiovascular exercise. It helps to keep your heart healthy and mind
fresh.
➢ 60 min of Zumba workout help you to burn on an average 600 to 800 calories.
What is Zumba?

Zumba involves dance and aerobic elements. Zumba choreography incorporates


hip- hop, soca, samba, salsa, merengue, mambo and martial arts. Squats and
lunges are also included.
● Alberto "Beto" Perez was the founder of
this “happy accident”.

● Zumba was created and started in 2001


and since then the Zumba program has
grown to become the world's largest –
and most successful – dance- fitness
program.
What makes Zumba unique in the benefits it

❖ Calorie Burning At a Custom Pace: Even the Zumba® routines with the greatest
emphasis on strength training are at their core a calorie and fat burning exercise.
Not all participants have the ability to burn calories at the same pace. One great
thing about Zumba® is the dance moves can be modified to match a participant’s
fitness, coordination, and ability.

❖ Full Body Workout: New Zumba® routines are being created all the time. While it’s
best to stick with a routine until the participant has it down, it’s also important to
move on to a new routine once the body has become accustomed to an old one.
Since Zumba® routines draw from so many different types of dances, it’s always
