INTRODUCTION
• Jama masjid is perhaps one of the biggest mosques in India

• Originally called Masjid-I-Jahanuma, or "mosque telling


perspective on the world".

• It depended on the arrangement and plan of Ostad Khalil

• It can be called as the copy of Moti Masjid in Agra.

• It is one of the best mosque on the planet.

• It is a congregational mosque.

About 500m west of the Red fortr,the masjid is located.


HISTORY
• Mughal head Shahjahan's thirty years of rule has observer the development
of a few heavenly structures that stand declaration to his vision of an
excellent domain, including the Jama masjid.

• After the passing of his better half he moved his funding to Delhi.

• And established the framework of shahjahanabad between 1638-1648After


structure the invigorated city of shahjahanabad and his royal residence he
felt the need of an enormous mosque.

• The establishment laid on sixth oct 1650.

THE ARCHITECTURAL PLAN
ARCHITECTURAL FEATURES
Entryways

• It has three passage entryways.

1. Southern entryway southern door


has 33 stages implied for overall
population.

2. Northern entryway – northern door


has 39 stages implied for aristocrats.

3. Eastern entryway or regal door


Eastern door has 35 stages it was
officially saved for the utilization of
mughal sovereigns. In any event,
during the British time frame opened
uniquely for illustrious guests and
the emissary of India
• Eastern door is octagonal in arrangement

• Soffit of the rooftop is enhanced with honeycomb cutting.

• Parapet has 19 kanguaras and 19 cupolas are above it.

OPEN COURTYARD AND ABLUTION TANK

• There is a fountain In the centre point of the
tank.
• In the four of its corners marble booths are
there
SANDSTONE PLATFORM
• Infront of the tank a sandstone stage
for muazzin.

• At the focal access to the mosque a


dark sandstone platform for mukabbir.

• There are two sun dials in the yard to


demonstrate time of prayer.
MAQSURA SCREEN & ARCH
• To go into the mosque eight ventured high maqsura screen is there.
• Five angled openings on one or the other side of the principle safe-
haven or mosque corridor.
• Area of the fundamental mosque is similarly less in extent.
• Area is 79.5X27.4m.
• Main access to this sanctum is through a passage. The fundamental
curve is flanked by minarets overcomed by octagonal cupolas

FLOOR OF THE MOSQUE
The floor of the mosque is brightened with dark marble. It is a meager dark
marble line.

• This is a mosalla (the imploring rug).

• 899 divisions of 3m long and 1 ½ m width is there in the altar.


DOME
• Dome is a characteristic element of muslim design.
• A bulbous vault was presented in this mosque.
• The inward and external shell has adequate room between them.
• It fills a double need
Cool the inside
Give vault a voluminous and rich look.
• A significant property of the vault is that it is fluted.
• Above each vault there is a copper plated spike.
MAIN SHRINE
• The fundamental shine is partitioned into two lobbies one
bordering its principle entrance lobby and its interior portion is
other one.
• These are isolated into seven sounds of fancy pillars
MINARS
Minars contribute fundamentally to its greatness and magnificence.
• The minar comprises of three story and 130 feet (40 m) high
• Each story is divided by a projected display. With a balustrade railing
around it.
• Octagonal in arrangement.
Winding advances prompts the highest point of the minar.
• A dome is there on the highest point of the minar. The perspectives
are only magnificent as one can see the entire Old Delhi from here.

ORNAMENTATION
Marble is utilized in mass for ornamenting the mosque
• Lotus blossom is a superb wellspring of motivation.
• Lotus theme is utilized at many spots.

• All the ornamentation has been done through flower themes or


engravings. • Mosque has ornamented wherever projection of curve,
under curve, divider, under arch, on the sections, floor, mihrab and so on
• Multifoil curve has utilized some place.
