Definition Of Poem

Poem is a piece of writing in which the words are arranged


in seprates lines, often ending in rhyme and are chosen for
their sound and contain meaning or idean from the poet
Structure Of Poem
• Rhythm
Rhythm can be describedas the beat and pace of poem. The rhythm beat is created by the
pattern of stressed and understressed syllables in a line or verse.
• Rhyme
Rhyme is a literary device, featured particularly in poem, in which identical or similar
concluding syllables in different words are repeated. Rhyme most often occurd at the ends of
poem lines.
• Sounds
Sound structures in poem are elements that contribute to the aural acpect of a poem. They
are what we hear from the poem, wether we or someone else read a poem aloud, or wether we
internally ‘hear’ the poem by way of silent personal reading. The rhyme and rhythm of poems are
sound structures.
• Imagery
The use of figurative language to avoke a sensory experience in the reader. When a poe use
descriptive language well the play to the reader sense and even internal emotion.
Kinds Of Poem
 Ballads, usually written about romace. Ballads have sentences that are similar
to song lyrics that can be sung. Ballads contain personal stories and usually
have frequent repetition of words.
 Elegy, usually perfomed at funerals and is usually not recited but my takethe
form of a song lyrics being sung.
 Free verse, although poems are usually written using the same rhyme or
rhythm, the free verse is a rhyme that is free from these rules.
 Imagery, it is a poem that’s reads like a snippet of words, not a sentences. It
could be that in one line only consists of one word which is not necessarily
related to the previous sentence or word.
Social Function Of Poem

Social function of poem is to convey emotion


or someone is idea or thought to the readers in
beautiful language.
Leanguage Feature Of Poem
Leanguage feature of a poem are rhythm, rhyme, onomatopoeia,
assonacse, alliteration, simile, and metaphor.

Poem is written in language or words that are more concise and easier to
understand when compared to poetry. Even though it is written more
concisely, the depth of meaning to be conveyed is certainly not lost or
reduced.

Poem has a characteristic with straightforward and firm language. This


staightforwaness is the main attraction of the poem
