    The Book of Jonah tells the story of the prophet Jonah, who is commanded by God to go to Nineveh and prophesy its destruction. However, Jonah attempts to flee from God's mission by boarding a ship headed to Tarshish. God causes a great storm and Jonah is thrown overboard, where he is swallowed by a large fish. After praying inside the fish, Jonah is spit out and goes to Nineveh. The people of Nineveh repent at Jonah's message and God decides not to destroy the city, much to Jonah's dismay. Jonah remains angry with God for showing mercy to Nineveh and for not carrying out the prophesied destruction.
