more or less ordered community.

Some aspects of human behavior, social


practices such as culture, expressive forms
such as art, music, dance, etc are said to be
cultural universals, found in all human
societies.

A society is a group of individuals involved


in persistent social interaction, or a large
social group sharing the same geographical
or social territory.

Societies are characterized by patterns of


relationships (social relations) between
individuals who share a distinctive culture
and institutions.

the activities associated with the governance


of a country or other area, especially the
debate or conflict among individuals or
parties having or hoping to achieve power.
YOU as a social person

Students as individuals and important


members of the society are expected to:

• value their roles in the society,


• apply the knowledge they learned from
school, and
• translate the gained ideas into actions
beneficial to nation building.

Students must be well-equipped and well-


informed individual who is knowledgeable at
least to make use of the different disciplines.
Have you ever wondered why
some people are different from
you from one another?
Write a 5 sentences paragraph describing
how your gender (male/female) may be the
reason for the kind of social person you are
today.

As well as the limitations you constantly


encounter as you navigate the social world.
Assignment

You will visit a mall or a public market and observe how


people inside the place to conduct themselves individually
and collectively. The following questions serve as
observation guide:

 What sort of people go to malls/ public market?


 What sort of things do they buy?
 What sort of interaction takes place between people at
different categories ( e.g. gender and age)?
