Compact cameras are small, affordable point-and-shoot cameras with built-in flashes and LCD screens. Twin lens reflex cameras have two identical lenses - one for viewing and one for exposing film. Rangefinder cameras use a separate optical viewfinder to measure subject distance and ensure sharp focus. View cameras are large format studio cameras that compose images on a ground glass screen before exposing large format film plates.

Compact camera
• Compact cameras are
basically consumer camera • Easy to use and carry • Low price • Small sensor • Built in flash • LCD screen • Creative modes • Extreme, Prestige and Super-zoom compacts • Canon, Sony and Nikon produce various models Twin Lens Reflex Camera Camera having two lenses of the same focal length, placed one over the above is known as TLR. In such camera, one lens is used for viewing and focusing, the other for exposing the film. The two lenses have the same angle of view and move in unison as the image is focused. Rollieflex was the most popular TLR. • No facility to interchange the lens • waist level viewing system • Medium format. Rangefinder Camera A rangefinder camera is a camera fitted with a rangefinder (an optical device for measuring distance) which allows the photographer to measure the subject distance and capture images that are in sharp focus. Most varieties of rangefinder show two images of the same subject in the viewfinder. To focus the image, a ring around the lens is turned until the two images coincide. View Camera Design and working of View Camera View camera is a large format studio camera whose viewing system consists of a ground glass screen at the back of the camera on which frame is composed and focus before the film is inserted. The front and back of the camera are attached by a flexible below unit which forms a light tight seal between two adjustable standards known as front standard and rear standard, allows a full range of movements. These offer a greatest degree of control. The front standard holds the lens and shutter while rear standard holds ground glass which is used for focusing and composing the image before exposure and replaced by a holder containing the light sensitive film plate for exposure. Use 4*5 or 8*10 inches plate. It is slower in process but give high quality result. It is heavy and not good for subject with motion. Underwater Camera Cont… Underwater camera is used to capture the images under water. It is waterproof and require a watertight housing for underwater use. It requires specialized equipment and techniques to click picture. Such type of cameras give their best result with wide angle and macro lens. Fish, marine mammals, sub-murged cave and underwater landscape are the best option to click as subject. A special flash (fill flash) is used with to supplement the overall exposure and restore lost color. Automatic exposure modes help us to get best picture quality. Single Lens Reflex Camera A single-lens reflex camera (SLR) typically uses a mirror and prism system (hence "reflex", from the mirror's reflection) that permits the photographer to view through the lens and see exactly what will be captured, contrary to viewfinder cameras where the image could be significantly different from what will be captured. S L R gives us greater control over photography. Cont… • Facility to Interchange the • Penta-prism and hanging lens mirror • Aperture and shutter • Facility of manual focus speed can be changed • 35 mm format, medium • Matrix or center weighted format and large format metering system camera • Facility to attach flash • Professional work with the help of hot- shoe • High quality result • Dx coding system • Canon, Nikon and Pentax • No parallax error are popular brand Digital Single Lens Reflex Camera • DSLR is a camera which works on the same pattern of SLR camera but it uses sensor not film role • Greater control over the art of capturing images • Different size sensor • Greater manipulation Cont… • Preview of image • Autofocus • Minor editing tool • Auto exposure • External flash unit can be • Burst Mode attached • Manual, Auto, Aperture • Information display panel priority, Shutter priority, • Wide range of ISO Night, Portrait and • LCD panel sports modes etc. • RAW and JPEG image • Spot, matrix and center • White balance weighted metering • Interchangeable lens system • Diopter adjustment Polaroid Camera Polaroid camera is an instant picture camera designed for Polaroid materials. There is Polaroid back that uses instant film for, check lighting, composition and basic exposure. The new instant photography system sends a print rolling out of the camera immediately the shutter is pressed.
