What is the keyboard and keyboarding?

The computer keyboard is an input device. The kyboard allows you to

send commands into the computer and enter text into documents
What is the keyboard and keyboarding?

The term ‘keyboarding’ refers to the act of entering commands or text into the

computer.

The standard keyboard is called the QWERTY keyboard. It comes from

the first six letters on the keyboard.


Parts of the keyboard

CHARACTER KEYS, are used to type letters and other characters. Typically, there are

three rows of keys for typing letters and punctuation, an upper row for typing digits and

special symbols, and the Space bar on the bottom row.

THE FUNCTION KEYS or F keys are lined along the top of the keyboard and labeled
F1 through F12. These keys act as shortcuts, performing certain functions, like saving
files, printing data, or refreshing a page. For example, the F1 key is often used as the
default help key in many programs.

A numeric keypad, number pad, numpad, or ten key, is the palm-sized,

17-key section of a standard computer keyboard, usually on the far right. It

provides calculator-style efficiency for entering numbers.

Arrow keys or cursor movement keys are buttons on a

computer keyboard that are either programmed or designated

to move the cursor in a specified direction.
