QUADRATIC INEQUALITIES
OBJECTIVES:
ILLUSTRATE QUADRATIC
INEQUALITIES.
(M9AL-IF-1)
Make a table of ordered pairs for each of the following situations given:
2. 𝑥 + 9 𝑥 +14 ≤ 0 − 𝟕 ≤ 𝒙 ≤ − 𝟐
2
4.𝑛 − 7 𝑛 ≥ − 1 0 𝒏 ≤ 𝟐 ∪ 𝒏 ≥ 𝟓
2

1 − <𝒑 <
𝟐 𝟐
Is it a YES or a NO?
Identify whether each of the following is a quadratic inequality or
not. Place a tick on the appropriate column.
1. Based from the results
of the activity, what
item/s have you not
answered correctly?
Why?
2. What have you learned
after doing the
activities?
ILLUSTRATING QUADRATIC INEQUALITIES
16 t 2 − 64 t − 80 < 0
t2 − 4t − 5 < 0
t2 − 4t − 5 = 0
( 𝑡 + 1 ) ( 𝑡 −5 )= 0
𝑡 =−1 𝑡 =5
− 16 t 2 + 64 t + 80 > 0 𝑆𝑆 : − 1<𝑡 <5
𝑆𝑆 : 0<𝑡 <5
Thus, the object will be in flight between 0 to 5 seconds.
ILLUSTRATING QUADRATIC INEQUALITIES
What is a quadratic inequality?
A quadratic inequality in one variable is an inequality that
contains a polynomial of degree 2 and can be written in
any of the following forms.
ax² + bx + c >0; ax² + bx + c < 0;
ax² + bx + c ≥ 0; ax² + bx + c ≤ 0,
where a, b and c are real numbers and a ǂ 0
Assessment
Direction: Substitute the value given for x to check whether the inequality is true or false.
Find each value at the bottom and write the corresponding letter above it if the inequality
is true, if not leave a space.
