WHAT IS WUSHU ?
Wushu is a Chinese traditional sport which plays attention in both
internal and external exercises with fighting movements as its main
content with routine exercises and free combat and its forms
Wushu is a hard and soft and complete martial art, as well as a full-
contact sport. It has a long history in reference to Chinese martial
arts.
WUSHU IS BROADLY CLASSIFIED INTO SANDA AND
SANDA
TAOLU
Sanda is a modern unarmed combat sport that developed from traditional wushu
techniques, and primarily makes use of punching, kicking, throwing, wrestling and
defensive techniques..
TAOLU

Taolu refers to the set routine form practice component of wushu. A Taolu routine comprises of a continuously
connected set of pre-determined techniques choreographed according to certain principles and philosophies to
incorporate stylistic principles of attack and defense.
INTRODUCTION TO BALANCE
Balance in biomechanics, is an ability to maintain the line of gravity (vertical
line from centre of mass) of a body within the base of support with minimal
postural sway.
ROLE OF BALANCE IN SPORTS
Through training balance we can improve reaction time, decrease risk of
injury, and overall improve athletic performance. It is important to realize
that these benefits go beyond the near future. Studies have shown that
following a bout of balance training, results can be maintained.
ROLE OF BALANCE IN WUSHU
Nowadays, Wushu ranks as one of the biggest sports and is featured in the
SEA Games and Asian Games. Wushu is one of the most popular traditional
martial arts that originated from China and it is dependent on multiple
components of training and development of strength, power, endurance,
flexibility, proprioception and balance.
BALANCE ANALYSIS OF SANDA SIDE KICK
A. Step up phase.

C. lifting knee to maximum height.
D. plantar metatarsals aimed at target.
E. plantar metatarsals contact the target.

CONCLUSION
Balance is vital part of Wushu and other activities like sports, fighting in a
ring, or even martial arts. It is suggested that coaches and athletes may
include this balance training program in their training regimen, hoping to
help in improving dynamic balance, thus, to reduce risk of lower extremity
injuries.
