CALABARZON is the
second most densely populated
region, it covers 5 provinces,
namely, Batangas, Cavite, Laguna,
Quezon, and Rizal, with it’s
regional center, Calamba City.
1. CAVITE- LAND
OF THE BRAVE
Dubbed as the “Land of the Brave” and the
“History Capital of the Philippines,” Cavite is the
birthplace of several heroes .Now, it is home to a mix
of ethnic communities, and most specifically the
Caviteño.

Caviteño is a term used to collectively identify an


individual of Cavite descent.

The only pre-colonial ritual still practiced at
present,The Sanghiyang (or Sayaw sa Apoy)

•The Mardicas
The Mardicas dance in honor of the image
of the Santo Niño.

The province of Laguna was
named after Laguna de Bay

The province is one huge


showcase of Southern Tagalog
craftsmanship. The town of Paete is
famous for its woodcarvings, paper
mache, and handmade paper
products.

3. BATANGAS
- The Heartland
of the Tagalog
Language
The first recorded name of the Province
was Kumintang.

The dialect of Tagalog spoken in the


province closely resembles the Old Tagalog
spoken before the arrival of the Spanish.
Hence the Summer Institute of Linguistics
called this province the Heartland of the
Tagalog Language.
Like the nearby tribes, the Batangan or
the early Batanueños were non-aggressive
people. Partly because most of the tribes in the
immediate environs are related to them by
blood.

However, when there is no choice but to


defend your life, Batangans would use the
bakyang (bows and arrows), the bangkaw
(spears) and the suwan (bolo).

NAMED in honor of the Philippines’


National Hero, Dr. Jose Rizal, the
province has gained a reputation as the
“Cradle of Philippine Art.”

THE Tagalogs makes up most of Rizal's


population.
RIZAL- DUMAGATS
- Also known as Remontados belong to an
indigenous community in Rizal Province, Philippines.

-However, despite their rich knowledge in


conserving and protecting their lands, these
Communities are sometimes forced to leave the forest
and settle in urbanized areas to find a better life.
5. QUEZON
-THE LAND OF THOUSAND
COLORS
Although close to the metropolis, it
has retained many of its legacies,
traditions, and relics.
Pahiyas is one of the most colorful
festival in the country. The festivities date
all the way backto the 15th century when
farmers used to offer some of their harvest
at Mt. Banahaw’s base.
THE DUMAGATS
– Most dominant Indigenous Group in
CALABARZON

The Dumagats are one of the major groups of


indigenous peoples living in the Southern Tagalog
region south of Manila.

farming, fishing kaingin , paid labor,
vending logs and other forest
commodities as livelihood.

system called “baybayin”
which is a type of Abugida
writing system.
