ABSTRACT
 The project work consists of ANALYSIS,DESIGN AND ESTIMATION OF BUS
TERMINUS IN KARAIKUDI which is a place of passenger concentration and
dispersion and where loading and unloading of a goods takes place.
 The bus stand is planned as R.C.C framed structure. It will be in three platforms
with advanced construction method. The gap between the platforms is 100m
 All the structures are designed by limit state method and M20 grade concrete
and Fe415 steel were used in this design.
 The total area of the bus stand is 6500sq.ft.The approximate cost of the
construction is 1.2 cores. We used IS 456 and SP-16 standard code books for the
design of structure and calculation of loads.
 STADD PRO software is used for analysing the structure. The proposed
Karaikudi Bus Terminal may have added advantages such as reducing
unnecessary congestion and improving the environment
PURPOSE OF CONSTRUCTION
 Transportation improves the social, economic, industrial, commercial
progress and transfers the society into a developed one.
 To achieve the desired transportation balance and the system to be
efficient it is essential to provide facilities such as bus terminus
which serves as access points to people.
 However, poorly planned terminal for buses may generate traffic
problems as well as deteriorating the quality of life of the affected
surroundings.
 The main purpose of having a public bus terminal in the community
is to provide an effective and convenient transportation service for
the residents. Bus terminals serve as a hub for various bus routes,
allowing people to easily access different destinations within and
outside the community.

CONCLUSION
This report consists of analysis, design and estimation of the bus
terminus including the structural elements such as roof beam, roof
slab, footing and columns. In case of Karaikudi, the existing
constraints namely lack of space and not drastically disturbing the
activity pattern of the area were the key consideration in developing
the proposals. Capacity and accessibility considerations should be at
the forefront. Such assessment could then be used to formulate
schematic alternatives for the purpose of improving the structure and
terms of reference for detailed design.
