ECHOLOCATION
Introduction

Echolocation is a biological sensor system used

by animals to navigate and locate prey through
sound waves. This presentation will explore the
science
behind echolocation
How Echolocation Works

Echolocation involves emitting

and interpreting the echoes
that bounce back. Animals like
use this technique to create a
mental map of their surroundings. The process
requires precise timing and interpretation of sound
reflections.
Echolocation is not without challenges. such as wind and
rain & background noise can interfere with sound waves, affecting the accuracy
of echolocation.
SONAR :

SONAR stands for Sound Navigation and Ranging, is a device that

uses sound waves to explore the ocean and detect objects
underwater. It can be used for navigation, measuring distances,
communication, and detecting objects on or under the water’s
surface.

There are two main types of sonar:

Active sonar :
Emits sound waves and listens for the echoes that bounce back from
the target.
Passive sonar :
Only listens for the sound waves that are produced by the target or
the environment
ULTRASONOGRAPHY :
Ultrasonography, also known as ultrasound
imaging, is a medical imaging technique that uses
high-frequency sound waves to produce images of
structures within the body.
It is commonly used to visualize muscles, tendons,
and many internal organs, to capture their size and
structure .
