Electronic commerce, is known as e-commerce is a type of industry where the buying
and selling of products or services is conducted over electronic systems such as Internet
and other computer networks.
E-commerce allows consumers to electronically exchange goods and services with no
barriers of time and distance.

shop. In the future, m-commerce is expected to continue its growth trajectory,

AI and ML algorithms are revolutionizing e-commerce by enabling personalized
recommendations, chatbots for customers support and predictive analytics for
demand forecasting

and offers.

Voice-controlled smart assistants like Amazon Alex and Google Assistant are

commands.

 Gain New Customers With Search Engine Visibility: as internet is spread
world wide it has become easy for small business to gain worldwide visibility.
 Lower Costs: as there is less need to acquire physical space as shop the
investment is reduced to certain extent.
 Eliminate Travel Time And Cost: customers can easily chose from wide
range of goods available online.
 No Need To Handle Currency Notes: transections can be done in various
ways such as debit card, credit card, net banking etc

In the modern times E-commerce has increasingly emerged as an important means


of business and trade. But at the same time it has proved various challenges to
national policy makers and legislators as regard its governance. Because of this
reason e-commerce and its governance are involved in various issues. These are
following:

3. Issues relating to Ground Rules
1. Issues relating to Access:
 Access to infrastructure:
Consumers and business people must first have access to telecommunication networks and
services.
 Access to content:
various types of content transmitted over infrastructure have to be competitive and respecting the
cultural values of others.
 Universal Access:
In our everyday lives universal availability of various communication services, including the basic
telephone services, is regarded as principal policy objective in competitive market environment.

 There is need of trust when we engage in relationships with other people, lack of
knowledge of those people requires us to takes risks in relationships.
 An analysis of this area would reveal that the following elements are critical for

New and modified rules and standards of governing E-commerce are needed with
respect to many issues of crucial importance to the development of electronic

Taxation issues in E-commerce:
 In order to properly tax commercial transections, it is critical to establish the
system by which the tax authorities can obtain necessary information on those
transections, regarding transecting parties, time , place and volume.
 In the past few years three taxation issues have been much debated in
international discussions;
i. Issues regarding classification (whether transections regarded as
transections of goods or services)
ii. Issues regarding source and place of residence
iii. Double taxation and tax evasion

make customer support a breeze. Support agents can
actively handle customer queries in real-time by adding a
minimalistic widget.

The entire cost of conducting the business can be brought down by taking your business online
• Advertising and Marketing Costs: E-commerce stores do not require traditional channels of
marketing and advertising
• Operational costs: with significant data in your hands, it become feasible to automate tasks,
such as automation of check-outs, billings, inventory management and payments.
• Economies of Scale: by eliminating the need for physical stores to derive expression, rental, and
management costs can be controlled.

E-commerce websites can deploy a host of tools to analyze the buying patterns
and shopping behaviors of visitors constantly.
Details can be tracked include:
 Channels that are bringing in the most traffic
 Pages that visitors are navigating before purchasing

5. Better Accessibility and Ease-of-Shopping:
According to the Global Online Customer Report the main reason why customer
shop online is that they can do so 24/7. This closely followed by the ability to
compare prices.
