Objective
 The main objective of the Design and build to ZETA converter
that can effectively interface with electric vehicle hybrid energy
storage systems and the grid for vehicle-to-grid (V2G)
applications.
Introduction
 The basic concept of the project is provide the power to the grid while
they are parked. The Electric vehicle can be a battery-electric vehicle,
hybrid vehicle can be connected to the grid. In order to schedule
dispatch of power, a grid operator needs to rely that enough vehicles are
parked and potentially plugged in at any minute during the day.
 An average personal vehicle is on the road only 4–5% of the day, which
means that a great majority of the day the vehicles are parked.
 At least 90% of personal vehicles are parked even during peak traffic
hours

Benefits of V2G Vehicle owner

 EV in a V2G configuration could provide additional revenue to owners who
wish to sell power back to the grid.
Existing System

 In the existing system the plug-in hybrid electric vehicle using a

buck-boost converter. However, this converter has limitations. It
can't efficiently transfer energy back and forth between the grid
and the vehicle's energy storage. It also has too many electronic
switches, which create power losses and require complex
control.
Proposed System

 This paper presents a switching bi-directional buck-boost

converter for vehicles to-grid system. It can provide an energy
bi-directional flow path for energy exchange between the
Lithium-Ion battery hybrid energy storage system of the electric
vehicle and the grid. This project not only has buck-boost
capability, but also has the function of energy management.
