SECTION A- QUESTION 1
COMPREHENSION
• A Comprehension tests your understanding of the meaning of
a text or message that you have read
• Both Text A (which is a written text) and text B (which is a
visual text) will test your ability to

figurative meaning of the text
Appreciate the text and reach conclusions by forming your

SECTION B- SUMMARY….
• What is a summary : It is a shortened version of a longer text, it keeps
the basic meaning of the text and contains all the relevant facts and
accurate information from the text
• Tip: Read the title of your text, What is the text about? Your 7 facts
must always answer the title
WHAT THE EXAMINER EXPECTS
FROM YOU
• Create a draft , write your seven points directly from the text
• In your seven point draft, edit your sentences by rephrasing them, put
them in your own words, replace some words with synonyms
• Each sentence should contain 1 fact
• When you are done editing draw a line across your draft
• Now write your final summary , your sentences must be short and
straight to the point
• Number your points from number 1 to 7
• Keep in mind the number of words required , never exceed the number of
words required
• Always indicate the number of words when you are done
