As the world grapples with the challenges of climate
change, environmental degradation, and social
inequality, the need for a sustainable and environmentally conscious workforce has become increasingly urgent. Green skills, which encompass the knowledge, attitudes, and practices necessary to protect the environment and promote sustainable development, are essential for addressing these pressing issues. This project aims to explore the concept of green skills, identify the key competencies required for a sustainable future, and develop strategies for integrating green skills into education and training programs. The natural environment consists of all the living and non-living Components that occur naturally on the earth . Plants , animals, Land, water bodies, mountains and sun are part of the naturally Environment . It is further divided into two types.
֍ biotic components : It consists of all the living organism in
the environment like plants , animals , insects and microorganism. ֍ABIOTIC COMPONENTS : It consists of all the non- living comp onents of the environment like air, water, sunlight, soil and minerals . Man- made Environment
The man – made environment is the environment made by human
beings . For example, a city is a man – made environment that Includes structures like buildings , parks , roads, vehicles etc . ECOSYSTEM Natural Ecosystem Terrestrial Ecosystem Examples : Deserts, Examples : Gardens, Forests, mountains Crop fields Natural Ecosystem: Artificial Ecosystem: A natural ecosystem is a self- An artificial ecosystem is a human-created sustaining community of living environment designed to support life, often organisms (plants, animals, for specific purposes (agriculture, microorganisms) interacting with conservation, research). Examples: their physical environment (air, 1. Agricultural fields water, soil, sunlight). 2. Gardens Examples: 3. Greenhouses 1. Forests 4. Aquariums 2. Grasslands 5. Zoos 3. Deserts Characteristics: 4. Oceans 1. Human-controlled 5. Coral reef 2. Simplified species composition Characteristics: 3. Managed nutrient input 1. Self-regulating 4. Energy input from external sources 2. Dynamic balance (fertilizers, lighting) 3. Diversity of species 5. Dependent on human maintenance 4. Nutrient cycling 5. Energy flow from sunlight Factors Causing Environmental Imbalance Deforestation: The permanent destruction or clearance of forests, usually due to human activities like agriculture, urbanization, logging, and infrastructure development, resulting in loss of biodiversity, ecological collapse, and climate change, with severe environmental and social consequences. Global Warming: The gradual increase in Earth's average temperature due to human activities releasing greenhouse gases (CO2, methane), trapping heat, and causing climate change, resulting in rising sea levels, extreme weather, melting glaciers, and altered ecosystems. Environment protection and conservation Environmental Protection & Conservation 1.Reduce, Reuse, Recycle
2. Conserve water and energy
3. Protect biodiversity and
natural habitats 4. Promote sustainable agriculture and tourism 5. Support renewable energy and reduce greenhouse gas emissions 6. Educate and raise awareness 7. Plant trees and support reforestation 8. Avoid single-use plastics 9. Implement sustainable practices 10. Collaborate internationally Reduce: Minimize waste generation, buying only necessities, and choosing products with minimal packaging. Reuse: Use items repeatedly, extending lifespan, through repurposing, borrowing, or sharing. Recycle: Convert waste into new products, conserving resources, through processing and transformation.
