Factorization

of
integers

HISTORICAL BACKGROUND:

Factorization was first considered by ancient Greek mathematicians

in thecase of integers. They proved the fundamental theorem of
arithmetic, which asserts that every positive integer may be factored
into a product of prime numbers, which cannot be further factored
into integers greater than 1.

While Euclid took the first step on the way to the existence of prime
factorization,Kamāl al-Dīn al-Fārisītook the final step and stated for the
first time the fundamental theorem of arithmetic.
Introduction:
The factorisation is the process of converting one entity (for
example, a number, a matrix, or a polynomial) into a
product of another entity, or factors, which, when
multiplied together, yield the original number. The
factorisation formula divides a large number into smaller
numbers, known as factors.
Factoring a positive integer n meansfinding positive
integers p and q such that the product of p and q equals n

called the factors of n and 𝑛 = 𝑝 ∙ 𝑞 is called a factorization

and such that both p and q are greater than 1, p and q are

of n.
Prime
Factorization.
Prime Factorization is the representation of a number interms of
prime number. The prime factorization of a number can be
expressed as..
Fermat method of
Factorization:
STEPS IN FERMAT METHOD:

Step1: Take t=√n+1 If t²-n is not a prime

step2: Take t=√n+2 if it is not a prime.
Repeate this step till we get t²-n is a
perfect square.
Applications:

Factorisation has many uses in real life, some of

which are:division of something into equal pieces,
exchange of money, comparing different prices,
doing time management, and making
calculations while travellin
CONCLUSIO
N
Prime factorization is the method of
determining the given number's prime factors
so that the original number is often divisible
by these factors. To ffind the prime factors of
an integer, the easiest approach is to divide
the original number by prime factors until the
remainder equals 1.
