ABSTRACT
In this paper an IOT Based Air Pollution Monitoring System is proposed in
which Air Quality monitoring using a web server internet and trigger a alarm
when the air quality goes down beyond a certain level, means when there are
sufficient amount of harmful gases are present in the air like propane, smoke,
alcohol, benzene and NH3. It will show the air quality in PPM on the LCD and as
well as on webpage monitor it. The existing system used the LPG detector using
MQ6 sensor which has a disadvantage of not detecting natural gas. Hence to detect
both natural and harmful gases MQ2 sensors are preferred which is the best
choice for monitoring Air Quality index and can measure their quantity
accurately. In this IOT based project, the pollution level can be monitored from
anywhere using your computer or mobile and can install this system anywhere and
can also trigger some device when pollution goes beyond some level, like switch
on the Exhaust fan or can send alert to the user using Buzzer.
INTRODUCTION
The causes of pollution measure carbon monoxide, propane , methane gases,
pollutant ,Particulate Matter, Ground Level gas. The Internet of things permits
objects to be detected or in dominant. Things in the IoT, refers to create of devices
like vehicles with intrinsic sensors, etc. Development of pollution observance
system will facilitate to control and present pollution connected parameters. Variety
of the ways that to controls pollution parameters measure. we have a tendency to
measure reaching to implement pollution detection in vehicles is pollution is high
or low to combustion of fuel in vehicle. We have a tendency to measure reaching
to build it up and implement it using Node MCU and different elements. this
methodology is turning into more and more important in pollution detection in
vehicles. The Vehicles end up carbonic acid gas (CO2), monoxide gas (CO). We
have a tendency to activity pattern electronic text Transfer protocol (HTTP)for act
and transferring data and to boot assures.
EXISTING SYSTEM

• Pervious IOT based air quality monitoring systems have used MQ6 gas
sensors. The Drawback of MQ6 is it cannot detect natural gases.
• Hence,IoT-based systems with sensor deployment for real-time
environmental data, often focusing on data collection and visualization is
prefered.
• Limited integration of IoT data for air quality prediction.
PROPOSED SYSTEM

• The proposed work introduces a comprehensive strategy to elevate the existing

system. By developing arduino uno.
• Now upgraded MQ2 gas sensor.
• The project aims to significantly improve the accuracy and reliability of air
pollution predictions.
• Integration of dynamic data sources.
• Community engagement features.

SOFTWARE COMPONENT
ARDUINO IDE:

Arduino is a prototype platform (open-

source) based on an easy-to-use hardware
and software. It consists of a circuit board,
which can be programmed (referred to as a
microcontroller) and a ready-made software
called Arduino IDE
ThingSpeak:

• This thing speak created an account with

mail and password
• ThingSpeak is an open-source software
written in Ruby which allows users to
communicate with internet enabled
devices.
• It facilitates data access, retrieval and
logging of data by providing an API to
both the devices and social network
websites
CIRCUIT DIAGRAM:
APPLICATIONS
 Monitor indoor air quality to ensure a healthy environment for occupants.
 Collect data on air quality in different areas to identify pollution hotspots and
inform city planning decisions.
 Monitor air quality in industrial settings to ensure compliance with environmental
regulations and protect workers' health.
 Monitor outdoor air quality in urban areas to provide real-time information to the
public.
ADVANTAGES

• Real-time Monitoring: Provides real-time data on air quality, allowing for

immediate response to changes or pollution events.
• Remote Accessibility: Users can access air quality data remotely through web or
mobile interfaces, enabling monitoring from anywhere at any time.
• Data Accuracy:IoT sensors provide accurate and precise measurements of air quality
parameters, ensuring reliable data for analysis and decision-making.
• Cost-effective: IoT technology reduces the cost of deploying and maintaining air
quality monitoring systems compared to traditional methods, such as manual
monitoring stations.
RESULT
CONCLUSION
The data’s are automatically stored in the database this information can be used by
the authorities to take prompt actions. It also helps the normal people to know
about the amount of pollutants in their area and to take control measures. This is
arobust system which is very useful in industries because of the increasing
pollution due to increase in industries. This system is user friendly and cost of the
product is affordable monitoring. Sensor was giving us value of 90 when there was
no gas near it and the safe level of air quality is 350 PPM and it should not exceed
1000 PPM. When it exceeds the limit of 1000 PPM, then it starts cause Headaches,
sleepiness and stagnant, stale, stuffy air and if exceeds beyond 2000 PPM then it
can cause increased heart rate and many other diseases.
FUTURE SCOPE

Future advancements in sensor technology will lead to the development of more

compact, affordable, and accurate air quality sensors. These sensors will be capable of
detecting a broader range of pollutants with higher precision, providing more detailed
and reliable data for analysis.
